Will the World Cup 2018 create a Russian Ammo Shortage?…

    World Cup

    Will the World Cup 2018 being held in Russia create a TulAmmo shortage in the United States?…

    Potentially, yes, comrade!

    If any of our TFB audience is Russian, they may have already known of or read an excerpt that we are about to present. A Russian publication called “The Russian Newspaper” (dead serious… this is not a joke) ran a decree from the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in May of 2017. Much of the decree states how security surrounding the World Cup will be increased as well as other factors any country should considering when hosting such an enormous event.

    This excerpt was originally in Russian and we made our best attempt to translate it. The important part of the decree we show here:

    The Russian Newspaper – Federal Issue No. 7265 (99)

    May 11th, 2017

    Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 9, 2017 No. 202 On the specifics of the use of enhanced security measures during the FIFA World Cup 2018 in the Russian Federation and the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017

    Signed on May 9, 2017

    Published May 11, 2017

    12. To prohibit, from June 1 to July 12, 2017, and from May 25 to July 25, 2018, in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in whose territories enhanced security measures are introduced, turnover (excluding storage, seizure):

    a) civil and service weapons and cartridges to it;

    b) explosives and industrial materials and products containing them;

    c) poisonous substances included in the list of toxic substances for the purposes of Article 234 and other articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, approved by the Government Decree No. 964 of December 29, 2007, with the exception of cases when such substances are included in the medicinal products registered in the territory of the Russian Federation in accordance with the established procedure.

    So why does this nearly year old decree find significance now? Well, now the timeline leading up to the World Cup has all, but evaporated. Many distributors who supply gun shops; thus, us consumers, were aware of this incoming, potential shortage. Others distributors of TulAmmo USA ammunition may have not positioned themselves to be ready for this shortage.

    One distributor, who we shall leave unnamed for their own privacy, recently sent this statement to all of their accounts (firearm and ammunition retailers):

    TulAmmo USA has advised that due to Russia hosting the World Cup this summer, the port of St. Petersburg will be closed to all hazardous class material and TulAmmo will not receive any shipments from Russia over the roughly two months that the port will be closed.

    This time frame will run from approximately June through July and possibly into the beginning of August.

    So will TulAmmo be gone for 3 months this summer and panic buying ensue?… Definitely not.

    If your preferred food for your firearms is TulAmmo, may you have to hunt harder to keep your babies fed?… Possibly, yes,comrade.
