[SHOT 2018] Industry Range Day With Dead Air Armament And KNS Precision

    Dead Air Armament

Solidly in the category of “Why didn’t I think of that?”, the suppressor smiths at Dead Air Armament have come up with one of the most useful products at SHOT2018 so far. These flip-up sights are in between prototype and pre-production phases and are due out to the public at the end of the first quarter of this year. Designed to be run on a standard-sized Glock, the intent was to make sights that will see over the body of a silencer when running suppressed and fold down and out of the way when you are carrying loud.

The current design is a classic white three-dot setup, but illumination and other designs are possible follow-up developments. The Dead Air team partnered with the folks at KNS precision to develop the new up sights and together put them through the test and evaluation gauntlet. The end result is a solidly built set of sights that will make standard suppressor-height sights seem unwieldy.

Look for prices around $150+/- for the set.

Note: The rear sight is not fully folded down in this image.

Speaking of KNS Precision, Dead Air gave us an advanced look at their AK Adjustable Gas Piston. The tuned rifle on sight was flat shooting with zero blowback. Of course, the Wolverine PBS-1 is designed to reduce “gas-to-the-face”, but as Dead Air’s Gary Hughes put it, any rifle/suppressor combination can benefit from some fine tuning.

Finally, a drop-in solution for taming the notoriously-overgassed AK platform. The patent-pending KNS AK Adjustable Gas Piston is a replacement for the AK’s piston head that attaches to the bolt carrier in about 10 minutes with no major gunsmithing or permanent modification required. The user is granted an extremely wide range of gas adjustment for suppressed and unsuppressed use, as well as a variety of different kinds of ammunition.

    Key Benefits:

    • Tool-Free Adjustment
    • Reduces Recoil
    • Tune almost any AK for suppressed use
    • Decrease cyclic rate for full-auto fire
    • US-made 922r Compliance Part
    • Piston head assembly made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel
    • All surface parts nitrided for durable, low-friction, & easily-cleaned operation
    • Patent-Pending
    • MSRP: $149-$165
