.224 Valkyrie AR-15 Introduced by Savage

The .224 Valkyrie may be the most interesting AR-15 round to come out in years, but the question many have been asking in my comments section is: Cool, but where are the rifles? Approaching the 2018 SHOT Show in Las Vegas Nevada, we are already starting to get answers, and one of them is the Savage MSR-15 Valkyrie. As the name suggests, this marks Savages first offering in the .224 Valkyrie round, and one of the first factory guns of this caliber.

The Savage MSR-15 Valkyrie is an AR-15-type rifle with an 18″ free floated barrel using Savage’s 5R rifling, adjustable midlength direct impingement gas system, Elite Series Cerakoted receivers, and M-LOK railed handguard and a two-stage trigger. Interestingly, the rifle comes from the factory with Magpul’s premium UBR Gen 2 stock, which generally retails for between $170-$200 by itself. The MSR-15 Valkyrie itself is no budget gun, though, with an MSRP of $1,499.

As we head towards the SHOT Show, I suspect we will be seeing more .,224 Valkyrie factory AR-15 rifles released, with more as the show opens and manufacturers show off their newest products. Will .224 Valkyrie be the star of the 2018 SHOT Show? Hard to know, but we’ve certainly seen stranger things! (Remember when a revolver stole the stage in 2016?)
