Tyrant Designs Taking Pre-Orders on S&W Shield Magazine Extension

    Smith & Wesson Tyrant Designs

Tyrant Designs recently began taking pre-orders on a magazine extension for the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistols. The extension is designed to work with the 7-round 9mm magazine and increases the capacity an additional two rounds.

According to the company, the extensions are CNC machined aluminum and weigh 1.2 ounces. I suspect this will help the mags drop swiftly from the gun when you execute a magazine change. The magazine extensions have chamfered edges to help reduce problems with printing while carrying concealed.

These extensions are designed to work with the factory magazine spring, so there should be no additional cost with upgrading your magazines. Tyrant Designs backs these with a lifetime warranty.

At the time I am writing this, the extensions are slated to be shipped between December 8 and December 11. Tyrant Designs lists the full retail price at $29.95, and the customer has the choice of an raw aluminum, red or black finish. The red and black colors match the red and black of the company’s other products.

Many people may know Tyrant Designs from the line of skeletonized AR accessories. I’ve had a chance to review the Mod Series AR-15 grip. While I prefer the feel of other products, the craftsmanship and build quality of the Tyrant Designs pieces was extremely good.
