Krebs Custom Retires the KeyMod and Introduces an M-LOK AK Handguard

Krebs Custom has introduced a new AK handguard set with M-LOK accessory attachment slots. We are used to seeing this company’s rails with KeyMod. In order to find out whether this new model means a launch of an entire line of M-LOK handguards or is it going to be a single model, I contacted Krebs Custom. It turns out that Krebs Custom plans to completely switch to M-LOK on all their products!

The reason why they made such a decision was the US Navy (NSWC-Crane) endurance test conducted with KeyMod and M-LOK accessory attachment systems. In a nutshell, the results of that tests showed that M-LOK is way superior compared to KeyMod. It is also a simpler and easier to manufacture design than the KeyMod. If you want to learn more about that test you can read the TFB article about it by clicking here or read the NSWC-Crane study by clicking here.

The first model of M-LOK handguard by Krebs Custom is called FM-AK47-11. As the model name implies, it fits Vepr FM-AK47-11 rifles. Note that it won’t fit any Vepr, but the mentioned model. The new rail is made of extruded 6061 T6 aluminum with mil-spec hard coat anodized finish. It weighs 6.8 oz and has the following dimensions: Length – 6 1/4″, Width – 1 1/2″ and Height – 3″. It is available for purchase on Krebs Custom website at an MSRP of $159.99.

Many thanks to Marc Krebs and Tim Haapala for the provided information.
