Springfield Armory Introduces SAINT AR-15 Pistol

Earlier this year, Tom Gomez reviewed Springfield Armory’s SAINT AR-15 and provided an excellent technical look at the rifle. Today, Springfield Armory is releasing a pistol variant.

It is built around the same features and functionality of the rifle such as the Accu-Tite tension system that increases the tension between the upper and the lower receivers, tightening up the fit so there is no shake or rattle.

“The new SAINT pistol delivers high precision and proven AR-15 capability in handgun form,” says Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese. “We’re always looking for new ways to give our customers more shooting options, and more firearm for the money. The SAINT AR-15 Pistol does both, and then some.”

The new SAINT AR-15 pistol features SB Tactical’s SBX-K forearm brace to reduce the size, stabilize recoil, and enhance accuracy for both one or two-hand shooting. The 416R stainless steel Melonite® treated barrel is 7.5-inches with a 1:7 twist and is chambered in 5.56 NATO (.223). The upper and lower receivers are forged Type III hard-coat anodized 7075 T6 aluminum.

The SAINT pistol’s muzzle is equipped with a blast diverter that pushes sound, concussion, and debris forward towards the target which is great since the barrel is only 7.5 inches.

The handguard is Springfield Armory’s exclusive, patent-pending free float design, with locking tabs and features a forward hand stop (which is also a good safety feature due to the shortness of the barrel). The rifle maintains the enhanced nickel boron-coated GI single-stage trigger and is paired with a Bravo Company trigger guard. The buffer system is heavy tungsten and the pinned gas block is low-profile. The SAINT also features a melonited Carpenter 158 steel M16 bolt carrier, a GI style charging handle and Bravo Company Mod 3 pistol grip from the SAINT rifle models. It comes with a Magpul Gen 3, 30-round magazine.

The SAINT AR-15 pistol is just 26.5 inches long and weighs under 6 pounds. I have one in for a more serious review and am currently at a Springfield Armory event, so expect more news to follow soon!
