SAMSON Manufacturing Lightweight Low Profile Gas Block

Samson Manufacturing has released an AR-15 low profile gas block which is extremely lightweight weighing only .63 oz. The company targets this product to people who are building lightweight AR-15 rifles. To many people, weight reduction wherever it is possible (even in very small amounts) is important for their ultra lightweight build. At the same time, it is designed to retain the original strength not to compromise the functionality of the weapon system.

The Samson Manufacturing gas block is made in the USA. It is machined out of steel and has a manganese phosphate finish. It is also a low profile one meaning that it will fit inside most of the free floated handguards. This gas block is compatible with .750 diameter barrels (at the gas port). The dimensions of this gas block are as follows: Length – .95″, Width – .87″, Height – 1.29″. It is available through Samson Manufacturing website at MSRP of $59.99.

At first, the unsupported protruding portion of the gas block looks flimsy and may give a false impression of the gas block not being rigid enough. However, that sticking out portion is where the gas tube is fixed into the gas block via a roll pin. It doesn’t really need to have a contact with the barrel.
There are several other gas blocks in the market that have similar weight. Namely, those made by Battle Arms Development, 2A Armament and Next Intent Tactical.
Which one do you prefer for a lightweight build?
