Kel-Tec KSG Padded Cheek Rest by SMT Tactical

SMT Tactical makes a padded cheek rest for Kel-Tec KSG shotguns. It is designed to make the cheek weld more comfortable and to eliminate the pain in the cheek area that many shooters experience after an extensive shooting session with this shotgun.

The new cheek rest is made of Kydex with an addition of a 1/4″ thick neoprene pad. According to SMT Tactical, neoprene is used for wrapping fragile items for shipping purposes and it was the material with highest cushioning properties that they could find. I suspect there are probably better materials for such purposes, but the more commonly available one is good to keep the price down and have no supply issues. Neoprene is durable and soft enough for that role. It is also anti-static preventing the build-up of static electricity. The installation process is not specified by the manufacturer. It is probably done by removing the rear pin and the stock, sliding the cheek rest in place and installing the stock and the pin back. It may have a simpler snap-on installation though.

The manufacturer suggests cleaning this cheek rest with warm water and soap. The KSG padded cheek rest is available through the SMT Tactical’s website at an MSRP of $59.95. No color options are available other than one shown in the images.
