Ed Brown Announces New Lightweight Commander 1911

Ed Brown Products recently announced the addition of a Commander to its already impressive line of 1911 style pistols. The new gun is called the CCO LW.

The company describes the CCO LW as “the ultimate carry gun” in part because it is the smallest and lightest 1911 style pistol the company has made in its history. With an unloaded magazine, the guns weigh about 29 ounces.

Ed Brown Products uses the company’s new Officer’s frame made of aluminum. It is lighter than its other frame options and has a round butt. On top is a Commander length slide and barrel.

The standard package includes a number of features such as the “directional Snakeskin metal treatment” on the slide. According to the company, the Snakeskin treatment is less abrasive than traditional checkering while still being an excellent gripping surface.

Additional features include a red fiber optic front sight matched to a blacked out rear sight, a flush barrel with recessed crown, recessed slide stop and a heavy slide chamfer. Ed Brown Products also allows for a large number of customer ordered options. On this model, there are more than 100 different customizations that are available.

This gun can be chambered for any one of these three cartridges: 9mm, .38 Super and .45 ACP. In 9mm, the base model has a suggested retail price of $3,585.
