LEAKED: Apex Grade Barrel For The M&P M2.0 Compact & Update On The M&P M2.0 Forward Set Trigger

It looks like someone over at Apex let the cat out of the bag a bit early! OK, we might have compromising photos of someone within Apex that we swore would never get out as long as they played ball. The Apex Grade Barrel and update for on the M&P M2.0 Forward set trigger wasn’t due to be released til tomorrow, but we managed to get it a bit early to show you guys first.

Apex Tactical Solutions will be producing their Apex Grade barrels for the new M&P M2.0 Compact in 9mm for sure. No word if they will also offer a .40 S&W version in the future currently but it is doubtful given the decrease in new .40 S&W pistol purchases.

Photos of the upcoming forward set trigger for the M&P M2.0 was also leaked from our source inside of Apex but no indication as to when the trigger will hit the market right now. I was assured that they want to make sure that the triggers perform as intended AND are safe.

I was also told that Apex will be issuing a press release on Friday with the official word. Make sure that you check Apex out on the website at www.ApexTactical.com

What is a “forward set trigger”?

A bad idea that gives you a 1911 trigger feel in a non-1911 gun.

Its amazing. Jk, but I like mine alot. It makes it so there is almost zero overtravel in your M&P. That is the point of the forward set trigger shoe. Remove as much overtravel and pretravel as possible and still have a drop in trigger.

It also reduces the pull weight by a little bit. about a pound by itself. But it usually comes with a new disconnector and some lighter springs. The lighter springs can cause problems. I didn’t use all of them.

Apex is the only one I am familiar with so I will elaborate on their aluminium triggers. Their style changes the trigger to a glock style trigger safety which is wayyyyyyy smoother to actuate and since the main shoe doesn’t move it feels like all the pre travel is gone. It is aluminium, so you can get multiple colors and it feels much more solid and better made than the polymer one.

I got one for my pro, but for a duty gun I would probably pass.

See, that’s a useful answer. I haven’t spent time with a M&P, so I forgot they had the weird Sigma-esque flexy trigger.

What is wrong with the standard barrel? What is “Apex Grade”? Why is the M&P 2 already being tacticooled out?

    • It is a match grade barrel. Apex is really great at appealing to their fans, which can seem a little over the top to those of us that aren’t fan boys.

Anyways I have two basically handmade Apex barrels (back when Barsto basically refused to make them to Apex specs to fix the M&P accuracy issue), they are really accurate, around 2″ at 50 yards with good ammo.

The only reason I see to replace the barrel on any of these pistols ( Glock, S&W, Walther, ETC) is to replace it with a threaded barrel. as far as the trigger goes, I replaced the trigger in my S&W Shield with an APEX trigger. Money well spent…

  • Apex has also been teasing the reintroduction of the .356 TSW, with new factory ammunition to accompany their conversion barrels.

    Me: I think I’ll get a Glock 19.
    S&W: No you won’t.
    Me: I think I’ll keep my M&P9C 2.0 stock
    Apex: No you won’t.

I’ll keep mine stock when I eventually get the M2.0 Compact. I have a 1.0 FS M&P and the only thing I changed on it were the sights.

  • Donttouchtheart

I got to play with the mp 2.0 triggers at the nra carry expo. They are pretty nice.

  • FightFireJay

No, it’s more like dropping a PPQ OR VP9 trigger (maybe better) in a gun that you can actually find a holster for.

    • James Young

Lol, “can actually find a holster for.” 100% agree

  • FightFireJay

-you keep saying that word (leaked photos of the M2.0 Compact, Surefire gear, Apex stuff, etc), but i don’t think it means what you think it means.

Esp as these studio photos are directly from a site sponsor…

Will these upgrades cause the pistol to go off if hit with a hammer ??
