Magpul’s GL Enhanced Magwell for Gen 4 Glocks Now Shipping

Where the Generation 5 Glocks no include a concealed-carry ready flared magazine well, there are literally millions of handguns out there with the sharp and hard plastic edges of “perfection” (at least as it was defined for nearly three decades). Stock Glock magwells have certainly left something to be desired.

Fortunately, the polymer wizards over at Magpul have announced the release of their “GL Enhanced Magazine Well” for Generation 4 Glock handguns. While the texture of the grip was a significant improvement, Glock still left the magazine wells small on the Gen 4 – which I am now convinced was so that they would have something to “upgrade” on the Gen 5 weapons.

The new GL Enhanced Magazine Well looks to be compatible with all of Glock’s various palm swells, just at the cost of a small gap between the frame and adapter when using the base “small” frame. The same compatibility does not extend to all magazines and floor plates due to Glock’s variations over the years, but it will work with the vast majority including Magpul’s polymer Glock magazines.

Retail is set at $24.95, with the magazine wells available for purchase directly from Magpul and through their extensive dealer network.

Full Description and Specs from Magpul:

The Magpul GL Enhanced Magazine Well is a high performance purpose built Glock frame magazine well. Designed to fully enhance and ensure positive magazine insertion in high stress scenarios.

Sleek and ergonomic design features also provide excellent concealment while ensuring minimal printing to the users clothing. Ramp and edge geometry allow for the positive and flawless removal of faulty or stuck magazines during reloading or immediate action events.

The Magpul GL Enhanced Magazine Well is optimized for use with standard capacity Glock factory magazines, Magpul GL magazines, and a variety of aftermarket floorplates and extensions that are available for both. Recent generations of reduced capacity (10 rd) factory Glock magazines have several dimensional differences which may interfere with any magazine well, including the Magpul GL Enhanced Magazine Well. Some large aftermarket floorplates may also interfere.

  • The Gen 5 is garbage. the magwell and front grip cutout ruined it. at least magpul is releasing something that works.

Cant please everyone. Especially those with dainty hands……

    • Big Daddy

That’s exactly right, it felt good in my hand except for that cutout. That’s why I bought a GEN4.

I ordered mine from opticsplanet last week so that I don’t have to keep checking magpuls website to see if the released the MAG950(Gen4 G19 model) yet. I figure that way it will just show up at my door when they release them and I can relax until then. But I really can’t wait to get it. It is the last mod I will do to my Glock (trigger guard undercut, apex flat trigger, night sights, threaded barrel).

Any of these fit a Gen2 Glock?

    • Cyborg Fred

      The gen 3 one should.

      • Veritas

Thank you! I thought I was out of luck.

  • Klaus Von Schmitto

I’ve got 20 bucks that someone will still market an expanded magwell for the Gen 5 expanded magwell.

  • Cyborg Fred

Slap your bulging magazine in our duty ready mag hole!

    Enhanced Perfection?

  • They would sell more gen 5’s if they didn’t screw the frame front or add a garbage magwell

  • King_Hussein

Another aftermarket answer in search of a problem. I get we’re trying to sell MagWell’s here but I’ve managed to do fast mag changes for 20 years without noticing the stock magazine well left so much to be desired.
