New Arex Rex Zero 1 Pistols On The Way! TFBTV First Look.

In this episode of TFBTV, James meets with Walker, the sales director for FIME Group (importer of the Rex Zero 1), and Marin, the head of development at Arex, too discuss two new pistols.

The most significant debut is the Alpha. The Alpha is meant to be an out-of-the-box competition gun: It has a 5 inch barrel and commensurately extended slide, however the slide cuts (pictured) are not for a compensator as it might appear, but, in fact, it’s a weight reduction measure incorporated to decrease the overall cycle time of the slide. The sights will be a serrated flat black rear with a red fiber optic front. The frame, unlike the standard Rex Zero 1, will be all-steel construction. The trigger is a little bit lighter and smoother than the standard Rex, but there’s not a spec sheet on what the trigger weight will be on the production model, although I glean that it may be marketed as a competition trigger and available to install in the Rex Zero 1. The diamond plate grips are very aggressive, and it also includes an extended beavertail. I should mention, however, that this is still a prototype gun. Arex was generous enough to give us a first look at the Alpha (and I will be shooting it tomorrow), but it will be formally introduced to the public at SHOT Show next year.

Also new is the nickel-plated Rex Zero 1 in both standard/full-size and compact configurations. This gun looks stunning with wood or the factory standard grips as pictured. It is functionally identical to the Rex Zero 1, including use of an aluminum frame. This is a true nickel-plated gun, it is not cerakoted or or otherwise coated, and as you can see from the photos below, it is completely nickel-coated inside and out. MSRP on the Rex Zero 1 standard model is $670, the nickel version should run about and additional 10% over the price for the standard Rex Zero 1. Look for the nickel plated version to drop this fall or winter. Again a big thanks to Arex and to their exclusive U.S. importer, FIME Group,  for letting us get this sneak preview. Be sure to check TFBTV for upcoming video content on Slovenia and the Arex pistols.

I’ve read lot’s of positive reviews of the Rex pistols but have never seen one in the wild. I’d love to get my hands on one

    • James Young

      Same

  • TheMaskedMan

Nice guns, but since I have small hands it wasn’t a good fit for me. Maybe when the Rex Zero E2 comes out I’ll be interested.

  • Surfgun

Now James, if the nickeled frames are aluminum? Are they anondized before playing? That would have been my first question.

    • Surfgun

      Plating! Damn auto correct.

    • Kelly Jackson

The nickel version uses a steel frame.

      • Surfgun

        Sweet.

      • Giolli Joker

Nope. The video clearly says aluminum.

        • Kelly Jackson

My mistake, it’s the competition version that is using the steel frame.

  • Jack

I really, really want the alpha model. I hope they either don’t put slide window cuts or make them in a less aggressive way since a slide replacement would be a pain in the ass.

I dont get it? What is the big deal about this, they are expensive sig clones?

    • WhyHaveYouDoneThis

Ikr? Let us know when the Czech Small Arms Vz.15 hits our shores. Or the Arsenal Stryk B is shipping. If/when the Kalashnikov PL-14 will ever be made here stateside. Or any of the other revolutionary pistols coming out.

This? It’s meh… It’s just sig copy. Might as well have a massive exposé on the Sarsilmaz CZ-75b clones or FMK Glock clones.

      • Haulin’ Oats

REX is using sig-like ergonomics. But internally it functions differently than a sig.

    • iksnilol

600 bucks for a good handgun is expensive now? Especially considering it’s a rotary barrel mechanism (so it ain’t a sig clone you myopic commenter).

      • PersonCommenting

What does a rotary barrel give you? By expensive I meant comparable prices to an actual sig. If the company would have just made their own style I wouldnt be saying anything. Instead they are riding anothers coat tails.

        • iksnilol

Helps with recoil and mechanical accuracy.

How is 600 comparable to 1000+ dollars?

Form is secondary to function. There is only so much you can do in regards to aesthetics. As long as it functions it can look like a pink ACU patterned marshmallow.

          • PersonCommenting

Not all Sigs are a grand and these guns are selling for 600 to 800.

          • iksnilol

Well, kinda unfair to compare the polymer sigs with metal rex, no?

          • PersonCommenting

            226.

          • iksnilol

Yeah, run’o’the mill P226 is about 1k new.

          • PersonCommenting

Where are you shopping. Ive found several for 650.

          • iksnilol

            In 2017.

          • PersonCommenting

gun deals online for a 226, easily find one for 650. and even more for under 1000

          • iksnilol

Yeah, used guns. Or police trade ins that are sold out now.

          • PersonCommenting

I will admit sigs are more expensive than I thought they were. I was going off prices back in 2008 , 2009 when I turned 21. Before Sig really started branching out.

        • javierjuanmanual

$550 was mid priced 10 years ago. Its not expensive.

          Expensive is 1100.

          Very expensive is 2500.

  • Some Rabbit

Looks like a beefier double stack version of the old Astra A-75 (which was a near copy of the SIG 225). A classic single stack 8+1 perfect for concealed carry.

  • ORCON

    Hit it with a hammer!
