1,000 rds of Steel Cased Winchester USA Forged Shot Out Of Canik TP9SFX

Jim of Burst Review was doing a test and familiarization of the TP9SFX with RMR mounted on it. He shot through 800 rounds of steel cased USA Forged 9mm by Winchester before realizing he was close to 1,000 rounds without any lube or cleaning. So he started filming.

I have used USA Forged in my Canik TP9SFX and have not had any issues with it at all. I even used it in USPSA. So I am not surprised that it worked well for Jim. However, I was surprised how little fouling there was after 1,000 rounds of continuous shooting.

It is interesting that Beretta 92 magazines can be modified to work in the Canik.

  • Kelly Jackson

I wish they’d sell one with the red dot mount but with a normal slide

    • Nicholas C

      Why?

      • Kelly Jackson

I like the feel of the gun in hand, and I’d like to have a red dot for a range toy, I just don’t like the look of the slide cuts

        • James Earl Jones

The slide cuts are more tasteful than the Walther Q5’s…

  • Paul Rain

Man, these do seem like pretty sweet pistols.

It is a pity the money goes to support ISIS.

    • Nicks87

Yeah I’m done buying anything made in Turkey. Even the super cheap ammunition thats been popping up at Walmart over the last few years. Erdogan is a pro Islamofacism piece of trash.

      • Hilltop

        Does ISIS own Canik?

Good gun that works well. Turkey is as good an ally as Germany or Austria…

        • Nicks87

Lol, you must be a comedian.

        • Ah no they don’t.

          • Sermon 7.62

Brethren from the East and West,
Who have stood the Tyler’s Test,
You will find a welcome here,
            Bright, fraternal and sincere.

            Chorus:

Warm Masonic hearts to meet you,
Hands of fellowship to greet you,
            May our welcome here today
Cheer each Brother on his way!

        • Audie Bakerson

As good an ally as Germany? I’d object, but with Merkel in charge, that’s probably true.

        • Kelly Jackson

          Everyone knows Turkey bankrolls ISIS

And Turkey just gave away US positions in Syria last week, why they’re in NATO is anyones guess

    • JumpIf NotZero

Even if it wasn’t Turkey (make your own connections about whether they are ISIS)… it’s still a knockoff of the Walther.

      I just can’t support knockoffs.

Although to be fair – they’ve handled the pricing, availability, and market response FAR better than Walther ever has/could.

      • Nicholas C

The Walther sucks compared to this.

        • Nicks87

Really? Because the walther PPQ did much better in M.A.C’s reliability tests than the Canik did.

        • Bart Jabroni

You know what sucks? Guns from terror sponsor states.

          • And you knows this how?

          • Bart Jabroni

I “knows” it because I pay attention to the world at large.

          • RICH

You must be a supporter of ISIS…. you seem to have an obsession with them.

          • Bart Jabroni

You must be stupid. This is a guarantee.

          • Tim

Quick question: what’s the national origin of Glock?

“Austria” you say? Birthplace of Adolf Hitler? So Glock owners must all be nazis, aren’t they?

Your brand of logic is fun! If you disagree, then you’re a double-nazi!

          • Bart Jabroni

            Confirmed for stupid and racist.

          • Tim

Heh. “Racist”. That was a short trip to the bottom of your intellectual ‘barrel’.

          • Bart Jabroni

Just bringing it down to your level, bigot.

          • iksnilol

Nah, not the same. Since, Turkey buys and sells products directly to ISIS.

          • noob
        • Zack mars

Well golly gee, cant refute that extremely detailed, and well thought out argument!

    • ExMachina1

      So, politics not firearms?

      • Nicks87

One eventually leads to the other. It’s been that way for hundreds of years.

    • Man, with that logic, I guess we should start boycotting IWI products in the U.S. because the money just goes to oppressing the stateless Palestinians!

      • iksnilol

Well, oppressing palestinians is why I’d want to give IWI money… but that’d mean giving Jooz money.

Damned if I do, damned If I don’t.

        • LGM Commando 072

Last time I mentioned Palestinians I got banned.

And the J-word? You are gonna get it, man.
          Phil is here.

          • iksnilol

I think it’s obvious I was joking, I mean, it’s a hella dark joke if you read my comment.

          • LGM Commando 072

Man I don’t think Phil has a sense of humor.

          • iksnilol

I dunno, that one time when he strictly enforced speed limits with an M2 Browning was kinda funny.

      • Nicks87

“Oppressing the stateless Palestinians”? How about kicking terrorists out of land that belongs to Isreal? See how it goes both ways.

      • Threethreeight

You should boycott IWI products because they aren’t good.

    • moonstar

      Support ISIS?

That’s why Turkish army fought with ISIS in El-Bab. 10% of ISIS forces eliminated by Turkish forces in El-Bab.

And Canik is only a private company. I haven’t heard anything about they interested in politics. Their owners, engineers and workers are normal citizens. They have families.

  • Nicks87

So are we just going to ignore MACs review on these pistols and act like now they are some sort of super reliable next new Glock-killer?

  • EdgyTrumpet

Really wish people would stop shilling these every time new variant comes out.

    • Nicholas C

Not sure about the shilling. But have you tried shooting the TP9SFX?

      • Bart Jabroni

Have you tried not supporting terrorism?

        • Tim

Precious, precious, little snowflake, how could I love you more?…..

        • Oh please that’s just trolling and makes no sense.

          • Bart Jabroni

Nice comeback. Everyone with a point is a troll.

          • LGM Commando 072

The mail troll here is Phil himself.

        • John Doe

You are a special kind of stupid sir

          • Bart Jabroni

Good, another terrorist lover has decided to voice his useless opinion.

          • Homer J.

Bart! Go to your room, boy!

          • Bart Jabroni

            Doh!

          • John Doe

As long as you use gasoline from middle east then you are the domestic terrorist you POS

          • Bart Jabroni

Nice try f**k boy, but the overwhelming majority of oil used in the U.S. Does not come from the middle east. So go die in a hole, terrorist scum.

  • 日本のゴリラ

I wanted to see him do some appendix holster work, with that jihad rod sticking out of the side.

    • Flounder

I feel like it wouldn’t offer much in the way of compensation.

  • Patrick Mcmahon

I had no issues with this in my XDs and XD Mod 2, but my P320 and P938 didn’t like it much. Several failures to eject.

  • civilianaf

Love love love the Canik. That is some of the worst ammo too. Respect, nice job.

    • Bart Jabroni

      You love terrorism.

      • Tim

        Your mother loves terrorism.

        • Bart Jabroni

          This is actually true.

  • Cory Carlson

Not a fan of canik in general… not a fan of erdogan warning europe that if they didnt stop criticizing him he would make sure that “you wont be able to walk safely down your streets”… And i havent been able to get a straight answer from people with connections at canik if they have ties to the turkish governemnt or if canik sells any arms to countrys we might find objectionable (although no gun companies hands are ever totally clean). If TFB could do some research and write an article, that would put my mind at ease about buying one… I would never buy a tp9, but their cz75 clones are appealing, but I just can’t pull the trigger. If Austrians armed with glocks were warning me that I shouldn’t feel safe walking our streets, I would probably give up my G19… probrably…

    • Alahahahah

A year or two ago a shipping container labeled Refugee Relief Supplies was inspected on it’s trip from Turkey to Europe and found to be completely packed with pump shotguns and ammo, they were Canik owned shotguns. If you think that the Turkish Intel Service was not aware of this shipment you are indeed naïve and if you think that someone in Turkey is not paying for these rave reviews…I have a bridge you might be interested in buying.

      • Taylor Hardin

So buy the original Walther version.

  • RICH

Great review Nicholas. No ‘Shilling’ noted !

  • Cymond

“Their refusal to help fight the war on terror […] is just as bad as funding ISIS.”

“It is a pity the money goes to support ISIS.”

You’re bad at this, can’t even keep your own argument straight.

    • Nicks87

“It is a pity the money goes to support ISIS.”

I didnt say that. I just agreed with it because its probably true. Now who’s bad? Dont bite off more than you can chew.

  • bobinmi

Sample size of one. These you tube “expert” reliability tests with one pistol of each brand are moronic at best.

    • datimes

If you watch until the end MAC always says it is not a scientific test, other disclaimers, and urges viewers to draw their own conclusions.

      • iksnilol

So he admits his results are meaningless?

        • datimes

I take it to mean it’s entertainment.

    • Bart Jabroni

Same as the comment section idiots.

    • Nicks87

Comments from a self proclaimed “expert” are just as moronic.

  • ExMachina1

It’s laughable how many people here appear to think that Turkey and ISIS are somehow in collusion with each other. The only way Erdogan is “helping” ISIS by FIGHTING against ISIS–basically serving as ISIS’ next “bad guy” to rally whatever radical fundamentalist support it can. Oh well, some people will never understand what’s going on because they are happy to equate any and all Muslim populations with support for terrorism.

    • Nicks87

It’s laughable how many people here believe that Islamic fundamentalists who barely lift a finger to fight terrorism in their own back yard are our friends.

  • Some Rabbit

Here’s an idea, don’t drop your gun in the mud, WWI is over.

    • Nicks87

Here’s an idea, dont buy cheap s**t and expect it to work as well as the expensive stuff.

      • iksnilol

But Hipoints work better than Kimbers.

  • Some Rabbit

Wow, so much Turkish hate in the comments. Funny, nobody ever hates on the AK, SKS, Mosin Nagant or Makarov because they were used by commies. Don’t judge guns based on the politics of the moment. If it’s a good gun, it’s a good gun.

    • Bart Jabroni

      You’re stupid af.

    • Nicks87

The Russians arent killing innocent people in the name of some fake religion. A religion based on lies and deceit and violence.

      • Some Rabbit

What does that have to do with a brand of gun? The Nazis used Lugers, I have a Jewish friend who owns one. He also owns a Canik and thinks it’s a fine gun. Guns are inanimate objects, they don’t have religion or politics.

        • Nicks87

Buying a Luger doesnt mean you support Nazis because Nazis are no longer in power. Had he bought a Luger during WWII then he would’ve been supporting the German/Nazi economy. You think the manufacturers that made Lugers didnt support Hitler? Of course they did or they wouldn’t be allowed to operate in Germany. You think Turkey is different? Of course Canik supports Erdogan otherwise they wouldn’t be allowed to operate in Turkey. You vote with your dollar. Be careful who you give it to.

        • iksnilol

Yes, but buying a Luger doesn’t nowadays send money to Adolf&co. Buying a Canik sends money directly to a country that supports ISIS. How hard is that to understand?

It isn’t about the brand or item, but about where the money goes. Like, geez, osmium much?

  • PersonCommenting

I miss this guy from when he was at Guns dot c 0m

  • iksnilol

Don’t forget, Assad is the bad guy there, because reasons.

  • Dan

The treating ISIS in their hospitals isn’t that bad. We would treat them in ours(US) too.

    • Paul Rain

And like Turkey and Israel, send them back to fight in Syria?

Yeah, maybe under President McCain, buddy. Thank god that didn’t happen.

  • Alahahahah

O geeze another John Brown Gun Club, SJW Troll

  • steveday72

That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works! …

It’s not a 1000rd test if you only film 200rds.

For all we can tell it’s just a 200rd session.

    • raz-0

You are completely missing the point that a thousand round test isn’t really that impressive.

  • Stay on topic and be civil to other readers. second warning

    • Bart Jabroni

Here’s your first warning, fill, go stick your own first up your butt until you die.

  • Nicks87

Agreed. Many of the people that read this blog are just dumb rednecks that are ignorant to history and prefer to just believe the narrative that’s handed out by Fox news, CNN, MSNBC etc. I have friends that were stationed at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey and they know first hand how the Turks feel about the US.

  • Nicks87

David Koresh is not the president of the USA. Erdogan is the leader of Turkey and is an Islamic fundamentalist. Is it that hard to do some research before you start pounding on your keyboard?

  • dutchman123

The men that own Canik are just businessmen. I’ve spent time with them. They are not jihadists, they do not have an agenda other than to make good product and sell it to the market. That’s my take, first hand.

  • iksnilol

I can’t believe how it was swept under the rug. I mean, last time somebody attacked your citizens on your soil you wound up nuking them.

This time? Not even a sternly worded letter.

  • Nicholas C

I can see your point of view. Don’t forget the Japanese killed a lot of Chinese in WWII. Estimates are in the millions. But that isn’t going to stop me from enjoying Sony products, Nintendo or Anime.

Of course Japan is nothing like Turkey.

  • Phillip Cooper

Why does what you spend matter to your girlfriend? She can leave anytime- she’s only a girlfriend.

  • Gene

Well so much for “The Firearm Blog – Firearms Not Politics”

  • Hyasuma

pffttt, what is a 1000 rounds? I shot my G34 four times more than that and guns still runs.
