Sometimes one just has to shake their head at the sheer level of stupidity we humans can wring upon ourselves. The latest example of someone who is likely related to Murphy is teenager Monalisa Perez who accidentally, nay, negligently shot her boyfriend 22-year-old Pedro Ruiz in the chest with a .50 Desert Eagle. Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene.

Perez, who is pregnant their second child, claimed she accidentally shot him while filming a YouTube video where the round was supposed to impact a book. Ruiz had supposedly tested the video by firing a round at another book, which was used to convince Perez of the video’s viability.

The progenitor of the idea seems to be Ruiz, who had been trying to convince Perez of the video idea for some time. Where agreeing to do the video, it obviously all went wrong at the filming and the round hit Ruiz in the chest. Fortunately, the whole story is on video. A GoPro and another camera set up to record the video were secured by police for evidence.

While a tragic situation, these could have been avoided with just the tiniest sliver of common sense. Now Perez faces likely jail time while pregnant and the two children will grow up without a father.
