RECALL: Barnes VOR-TX .300 Weatherby 180 Grain

EDIT: I am now aware of Phil’s post, when I searched it didn’t show up in the results. Double coverage when talking about a recall isn’t really a bad thing though. Sorry about that.

Barnes has issued a voluntary recall of their VOR-TX .300 Weatherby ammo in the 180-grain variety. According to the recall notice, the package may contain cartridges of a different caliber than is indicated on the box flap. With only 18 lots affected, Barnes asks that you discontinue use of the ammunition immediately and contact their customer service department.

    The recall is limited to the following lot numbers: Z08SA15L, Z08SB15L, Z09SA15L, Z09SB15L, Z11SB15L, Z11SC15L, Z12SA15L, Z12SB15L, Z12SC15L, Z08SA15R, Z08SB15R, Z09SA15R, Z09SB15R, Z11SB15R, Z11SC15R, Z12SA15R, Z12SB15R, Z12SC15R

Again, if you have a box of ammo that has this lot number stamped on the inside flap of the box or stenciled on the outside of the case (if you have a case of ammo), please contact Barnes customer service immediately at 435-856-1115. They will be replacing the ammunition ONLY IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THE AFFECTED LOTS by sending you a return label and will send out replacement ammo as soon as the recalled ammo is received.

Make sure you always check the caliber of the ammo before you load it into your rifle, as Barnes warns, serious injury or damage to the firearm can occur if the improper ammunition is fired.

Good on Barnes for catching a potentially dangerous mix-up, I love to see companies make things right when Murphy strikes.
