Anderson Manufacturing Debuts NEW 15″ Keymod Free Float Handguard

Anderson Manufacturing

It was just weeks ago one of our own writers told you why “Keymod Sucks,” but that does not mean the industry has fallen flat and given up on Keymod. It is true that M-LOK is much more popular than Keymod for several reasons outlined in the TFBTV video “Keymod Sucks – Now with More Proof!” In fact, it was over a year ago that we outlined how M-LOK outsells Keymod roughly 3:1. Nevertheless, there are a lot of fans and advocates for Keymod still out there. I personally outfitted my last AR build with a Keymod handguard so I am not a hater on the design by any means. Many manufacturers are pleased to pump out new offerings for the Keymod market.

With all that being said, Anderson Manufacturing has released a new 15″ Keymod Free-Float Handguard. The essential specs can be read below:

  • Lightweight Free-Float Design
  • Machined from 6061-T6 Hardened Aircraft Aluminum
  • MIL-SPEC Type III Hard Coat Anodizing Black Finish
  • Steel Barrel Nut
  • Continuous Top Picatinny Rail
  • Side Facings & Bottom are designed to accept Keymod rail sections
  • Made in the U.S.A
  • Weight: 0.90 Lbs
  • 1 ¼”-18 Thread on Barrel Nut
  • 1.350″ Inside Diameter of Forearm

This handguard comes with the essential steel barrel nut and will feel feathery-light at less than 1 pound. Right now just the Rifle Length handguard (15″) is listed on Anderson Manufacturing’s website, but they have eluded to future offerings in pistol, carbine and mid-length sizes as well.

The Rifle Length 15″ Keymod Free-Float Handguard currently retails for $130.71 on Anderson Manufacturing’s website.

The outdoors, fitness and anything related to firearms are my passions. I am a S&W Armorer, Glock Armorer, reloader and am coping with an addiction to classic S&W and Colt revolvers (by buying more revolvers). I’ve been a guest writer for Sierra Bullets and love long walks to the gun range.

“It is true that M-LOK is much more popular than Keymod” I’m constantly seeing new Keymode handguards almost every day, on a weapon or by themselves. Someone please make it stop.

    • Juggernaut

don’t these manufacturers look at the Internets and see that the Cool Kids are into MLOK?

  • Giolli Joker

    They missed Patrick’s memo.

  • USMC_grunt2009-2013

Apparently the United States Marine Corps thinks that Keymod does indeed suck.

  • The Dude

Proof that keymod isn’t dead, Anderson, manufacturer of such things as out of spec lower receivers, is now producing keymod out of spec!

    • BillC

They will also proudly sell people who don’t know any better, AR15s with Aluminum gas blocks. Aluminum, railed, gas blocks that are not even the same height as the upper receiver.

      • Rick O’Shay

        You left out “clamp on.”

  • BillC

AAAAhahahahahaha…..Stop it, stop it..hahaha! Anderson + KeyMod, soooo much win. Hhahahahahhahahaaa!

  • LOL! “Yeah, we keep telling you Keymod Sucks… BUT… Here’s some new Keymod stuff.”

ANDERSON – MAKE AN M-LOK version.

  • Devil_Doc

My DPMS AR10 takes magpul moe furniture. Does this mean that it has the same sized external diameter barrel nut as an AR15? Google provides inconsistent answers, has anyone actually tried it..?

  • Gern Blanston

tell noveske and daniel defense that keymod sucks… they both sell more models with keymod and have sold plenty of ar’s since they put them on their guns… good grief just buy what the hell you like and shut the hell up about what sucks or whats better!

  • Thomas Rakip

Some fly by night company named LaRue Tactical is doing KeyMod, too. What do those clowns now? Lol

Let’s see, of the brands I use, only Colt doesn’t offer KeyMod. LaRue, Noveske, VLTOR, B5, KAC and Geissele do. I’ll stick with them…
