X Products 50rnd X-5 MP5 Drum Magazine At HKPARTS

Over a year into the transfer process of my TPM Outfitters MP5SD, I have yet to start stock piling magazines. For one, H&K magazines aren’t the most affordable on the market and two there are a couple of polymer options in the works that I am hoping to review before committing to a ‘German vs U.S. made’ plan. X Products just has added yet another mag option for the MP5 platform: the X-5 50 round drum magazine.

Until recently I had considered drum magazines to be too big and heavy for any platform except for those blessed with select fire capabilities. But 50 consecutive quiet shots from the SD sounds like a lot of fun. MSRP for the new magazine shows $249 and although it shows out of stock on the X Products site, HKPARTS.net has a certain amount of stock for immediate sale and shipping.

Their mags are built like a tank, and you’ll enjoy it for sure.

It looks like the front is metal but not the feedlip(s)? That kinda makes me sad, for $250.

looks like blued steel with fingerprints to me

and the bodies on these things are usually aluminum. this is no magpul product

99% sure they are steel feedlips. But I will clarify.

Purchased two – bodies are aluminum with steel (or at least magnetic) feedlip assembly. Operating wheel feels like plastic which is slightly disappointing, though the overmolded rubber gripping surface is nice.

One loads to the full 50 rounds, feels maybe a little rough – suspect will smooth with use. The second will only load 30 to 32 rounds before cannot load more – will take it apart this weekend to see what’s up.

For all that, they are nice and compact and I hope they work as advertised.

Wasn’t the owner of this company (HK parts) awaiting sentencing? Good job to whoever is keeping the ship afloat.

here are some more detailed pics of my mp5 drum i just received in the mail…for those wanting to see the feed lips better.

    i havent shot it yet.

    feels solid though.
wish it were higher cap than just 50 though. 75 (like suomi converted drum) would have rocked.
