Hrachya H. shared this photo with me. It is a bullpup AK made here in the US. It is made by Utah Custom Gunstocks.

I am very curious as to how he linked the triggers.

Although I still think the OTS Groza is the coolest bullpup AK.

For a nice custom gun…That red dot sure look cheap

  • Uniform223

    The wood furniture looks great

    • Dr. Longfellow Buchenrad

Then they attached it to an AK.

I dont know about you but when soneone says “pinnacle of modern art” the first thing that comes to my mind is not 1940s USSR.

      • BrandonAKsALot

You savage. Nothing says art like the purposeful and useful combination of wood and steel. Have you not heard of the famous artist Josef Stalin? He painted modern art with German blood.

        • Zachary marrs

          *Russian blood

  • M.M.D.C.
    • iksnilol

      *Friggin amazing

      • supergun

        What about an AR?

        • iksnilol

          Looks very boring.

          • supergun

Are you talking about the AK? I like the AK, without all the fancy wood furniture, but I believe I would take the money and buy an IWI Galil.

          • iksnilol

            Nah, the AR.

            Galils never interested me.

          • supergun

            Why not?

          • iksnilol

I don’t see the appeal, does the same as an AK at a couple of kilograms more weight.

          • supergun

I guess that is why so many different guns are made.

          • iksnilol

Yeah, plenty of ways to skin a cat.

          • supergun

Nice chatting with you again. Take care.

          • iksnilol

            Likewise, drive carefully, pardner.

          • supergun

            Shoot carefully.

    • Evil_Bonsai

      I would bang both.

      • supergun

        Sick

    • supergun

      Thats good.

“Ran a coat hanger from here to here”

    • Dr. Longfellow Buchenrad

The AK is probably the only platform you could get away with doing that on. Just look at some of those “African Rebel” jobs. They make American rednecks look like HK engineers.

  • 48conkli

Looks nice. On other hand, havent bull pups lost their steam as of late.

    • PersonCommenting

Too pricey compared to what is out there. I think the guys who bought them to circumvent NFA SBR rules got the ones they wanted. Yeah I am sure there are people who also care about the full length barrel in a compact package but I think their prices are too high to justify that to most people so they do without or navigate NFA which more and more people are finding out isnt that hard. That being said I would like to have one but too many other things I want before a bullpup plus ill want a bullpup that is at least discounted 15% so till I get other things and find a good deal its a no for me for now.

  • .45

How does one reload without the hand grip interfering?

    • Nicholas C

I imagine that underneath the stock is a thumb hole to access the magazine release.

      • DanGoodShot

If you look closely you can see the mag release sticking out a bit.

        • .45

Yes, but that’s not what I was talking about. I’m talking about rocking the 40 rounder (I think it is a 40) forward in a reload. If I zoom in it looks like the grip might actually be canted to one side. Maybe I’m just over thinking this. They obviously got it to work.

  • Hinermad

“I am very curious as to how he linked the triggers.”

Me too, although the AK isn’t known for precision triggers so it wouldn’t have to be terribly, um, precise.

    • PK

You’d be surprised how nice you can make a trigger in an AK. Also, I expect that the linkage is a simple cam on front that pulls a bar/rod forward, pulling/lifting a block behind the original trigger to tilt it as though you were pulling it and releasing the hammer.

      • Mael99

Considering how stock AK triggers are, I’m not surprised at all that they can be improved. Don’t forget that the purpose of the AK is economy, simplicity and reliability in harsh environments.

    • Nicholas C

You should try the ALG Defense AKT-E And AK-UL triggers. They are amazing!!!

  • Martin Grønsdal

they wanted to design a cool looking crossbow, and ended up with this….

  • Dr. Longfellow Buchenrad

Is the trigger pin only held in place with wood? I wonder how that affects the trigger pull.

Oh never mind for a second I forgot it was an AK.

  • Twilight sparkle

What’s up with the non standard grammar and trigger pins?
Did they egghole them or something?

  • Sinbad 1

I appreciate the work and craftsmanship that went into building it. But yuck

  • I can’t imagine the eyeball weld on that rear sight is very comfortable.

  • Peter Nissen

I really wouldn’t want to cheek weld on that top cover. Freezing cold – your skin sticks. Super hot – cheek burns. It’s definitely an “Art” piece!

    • The Heretic

Yes, the Norinco 86s, which is 99% steel (except for the two grips), gets very hot just sitting in the sun, and that makes it painful to shoulder. It isn’t too hard to put something between your face and the top cover though. In the cold a balaclava is adequate.

  • Conner

I would never want to put down someone that puts this much work into customising or sporterizing a weapon to this extent. The stockwork is pretty intense, however I don’t think you could get a good hold on the front hand grip with the mag in the way. Artwork isn’t always practical though. This is very cool and obviously a lot of work went into it..

    • The Heretic

In my experience, getting a decent hold on the grip on AK bullpups, like the Norinco 86s, with a drum mag, is almost impossible and very uncomfortable. A standard flat mag is fine – but 20 round mags are preferable, especially in a prone position.

  • BrandonAKsALot

That was either a 56s or a straight cut MAK-90 and that makes me sad. The FSB was swapped out with a neutered one for some reason and it’s an open ear, not even Chinese. I hope that’s all reversible. I’m also pretty sure this is an old photo.

  • Beachhawk

That has to be the ugliest AK on the market today. I’d guess that fragile looking fore end would not last 15 minutes in combat and the pistol grip looks like it escaped from the set of a bad kung fu movie from Hong Kong.
