Inspired by my friend Paul Kim (PK) I constructed this technological terror. Because it is so stupid and silly I am proud of it.

Back when PK was Senior VP of SureFire, he posed for a photo.

Ignore the photoshopped elements like the lamp and swiss army knife. And you can see how much stuff was added to this AR.

After I had Keith Biddle machine a custom threaded barrel shroud for my USFA Zip, I added my Osprey45. Then I swapped the sight plate for the Picatinny rail plate and added my Torrey Pines thermal sight and SureFire Millennium Weaponlight.

The USFA Zip has a small rail in front of the trigger guard so I was able to fit a CAA rail mounted bipod. Since the CAA bipod has its own picatinny rail, I added my green/IR laser and mounted the SureFire Hellfighter to it.

Surprisingly the CAA bipod legs actually touch the ground when fully extended.

Just don’t shoulder that light 😉

This got me thinking, If you incorporated a vertical grip into a suppressor and put it on a pistol would the NFA take issue since its not on the pistol?

I probably know the answer to that already.

    • Nicholas C

You could try that with an Alpha Dog Silencer.

      • iksnilol

But wouldn’t it in most cases affect function of the pistol (I mean, holding onto foregrip that’s connected to a tilitng barrel).

        • Yeah, I’d be worried about a Browning lockup pistol gettin’ effed up by having a solid grip out on the end of all that tilting mass; at the very least it seems like you’d get an FTF/FTE on every shot.

        • Nicholas C

Yes but not in this scenario with the USFA Zip.

This is why rotating barrel locking system saboted SCHV integrally suppressed handguns are the future…

Everyone just needs to accept this and turn in their glocks and 1911’s for replacement rotating bbl lockup guns, take a moment to say goodbye to their old friends, and leave the room misty eyed before the gunsmith puts them out of their misery using humane euthanasia techniques

I’m guessing with all that weight the recoil is nothing, It’s sort of like a lead sled that takes batteries.

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of The Force.

I have zero use for a $5k flashlight, but I really really want a Hellfighter.

    • Nicholas C

You can find them used for less. I bought that one for only $500 back in 2011.

  • Edeco

Needs one of those large, $10K red dots from a minigun.

How many channels can it get, is that not a FCC vio for cable theft?

  • valorius

If they actually worked reliably enough that you could count on one, a suppressed Zip gun mounted under the rail of your AR, loaded with Aguila SSS 60gr subsonic would be a really cool ‘hollywood quiet’ option for removing sentries and the like, so you could keep your AR rifle loaded with full power ammunition.

    If they worked…

  • baserock love

But does it take glock mags?

  • koolhed

Care to point me to your favorite substitute?

  • Sledgecrowbar

I don’t get why people buy the zip gun. It’s not cheaper than even a brand new 10/22 and it doesn’t work well or have even a remotely usable grip. There are a dozen .22LR handguns with the same price tag that work and have a grip. It’s like people buy things just to valid markets that should not be validated. This is how the Pet Rock became a thing.
