Range Recovery Technologies | SHOT 2017

Walking around the SHOT 2017 Range Day, I had the pleasure of getting to talk to the owners of Range Recovery Technologies. Range Recovery Technologies specializes in cleaning up lead from ranges without the use of water or chemicals. Range Recovery Technologies has specialized equipment that separates the metal from the soil.

Some copper and lead removed from a range. The copper and lead can be recycled. Range Recovery Technologies utilizes specialized equipment to clean the soil.

Talking with the owners of Range Recovery Technologies, they filled me in on some interesting statistics about the shooting ranges in the United States. Several interesting facts, for example, there are over 7,000 shooting ranges in the United States. Said ranges attract over 20 million visitors a year. One range may have over 80 tons of lead shot in one year. The lead that Range Recovery Technologies recovers can often be recycled.

There is no doubt that the services of Range Recovery Technologies plays a key role in reclamation and maintaining an environmentally friendly shooting range. Neat company!

This article makes me question whether or not Range Recovery Technologies could also recover lead from old battlefields. With indoor ranges the lead can then be recycled into new ammunition.
