Midwest Industries Extended Rails | SHOT 2017

Midwest Industries showed off two new rails during the 2017 SHOT SHOW. Joining an already impressive suite of accessories are the MI AR-15/M16 Gen3 Extended Rail One Piece Free Float Handguard, and the MI Gen 2 Extended Universal AK Handguard.

The MI Gen2 Extended Universal AK Handguard is available in KeyMod and M-LOK options. The Handguard includes a gas tube. The MI Gen2 Extended Universal AK Handguard has some specific requirements for mounting, do visit the Midwest Industries page before purchasing. The MI Gen2 Extended Universal AK Handguard will not fit Yugo patterned rifles.

The MI AR-15/M16 Gen3 Extended Rail One Piece Free Float Handguard is made to be used with the MI-MB4 Muzzle Brake from Midwest Industries. The Handguard is one piece, and made from 6061 hard coat anodized aluminum. The rail I looked at was designed for M-LOK rails and accessories. The Handguard has an outer diameter of 1.5 inches and is secured using Midwest Industries proprietary torque plate system. I have installed several Gen3 handguards from Midwest Industries, and they are hands down, they easiest rails to install. These rails are 17.5 inches long and weigh 12.4 ounces with the barrel nut.
