NEW Vortex Viper PST Gen II is Big, Black & Sexy | SHOT 2017

Vortex Optics was out at SHOT Show’s Industry Day showing off their wares and new optics for 2017. One optic that was very intriguing and part of a larger line-up was their Vortex Viper PST Gen II. The one that we specifically were able to fondle and shoot was the Viper PST Gen II 1-6x24mm.

This scope has a 30mm tube so you will need a beefier mount to hold this scope secure. As seen on a Seekins Precision rifle, it is fairly compact, although pretty thick. You have your choice of 2 different reticles within this model: VMR-2 (MRAD) and VMR-2 (MOA). Your reticle choices are illuminated and the illumination adjustment is seamlessly built into the side focus adjustment knob. There are 10 different intensities available to the user to play with.

This scope is very ideal for close-quarters work or longer range shots as well. The larger 30mm tube does add more weight to your rifle setup, but it also adds more eye relief for the user. Your windage and elevation turrets feature 0.2 MRAD adjustments for more precision shooting. The Viper PST Gen II also has an overall length of 10.9″ with a weight of 22.7 ounces.

I personally had no problem ringing steel silhouettes at approximately 100 yards off-hand. Not an impressive feat, I know, but being as I am a self-proclaimed pistol guy, the clarity of the glass and the crisp reticle made it easy for me to shoot well.

The MSRP of the Vortex Viper PST Gen II 1-6x24mm is $999. The rest of the scopes in the Viper PST Gen II series vary in pricing from $999 – $1,399.
