Combining German engineering and Swiss precision, the new Hexagon ammunition from Geco is high-performance match grade for the highest levels of sport shooting. The improved aerodynamic shape delivers a straight trajectory while reducing velocity loss on the way to the target, and the six stabilization grooves create a vortex for a “gold ball effect” for stability and true flight.

Unlike normal hollow point cartridges which are designed specifically for expansion upon impact, the Hexagon rounds are created for optimal accuracy. Hexagon is currently available in 9mm Luger and .357 Magnum.

    Any claims to effectiveness?

      Very very accurate out of a stock CZ SP-01. I had the chance to fire a box, and from a rest at 25 yards it printed 1 inch 5 shot groups.

      I use them since a year or so and i find them more accurate than other ammo from Geco. I haven´t measured the group sizes, it may be all imagination, but i like the ammo and it´s uses non toxic primers.

      The key is the vortex. Imagine a vortex as a tornado spinning around the bullet in flight. In aerodynamics vortex’s are used to keep high velocity air on a flight surface for longer periods of time. High velocity= low pressure= lift = less drag. Hope this helps. It’s a great application of aero dynamics. If it actually works.

    Can somebody tell me why on earth you would use these for longer range with that drop and bad aerodynamic.

    Is this a hunting round with long range in mind? I have never worried about loss of velocity within defensive shooting ranges.

      An EU legal hollow point. Doesn’t expand in tissue but presumably less ricochet risk. And looks cool.

    I’m glad to see that they didn’t try to trade mass for velocity like the Ruger ammo does with the lightweight all copper “Phillips Head” bullets. Instead they went in the other direction with a heavy-for-caliber projectile. A 9mm 124 grain load is somewhat more conventional but that is an XLNT weight for the 9 and a 147 grain loading wouldn’t be bad either.

      Two totally different rounds. The Ruger ARX is for close encounter self defense & the Geco is a target round. I use the ARX in .380 ACP & 9mm. The .380 ARX explodes a water jug like it was shot with a hollow point 9mm or 38 spl, whereas even .380 JHP do almost nothing to the jug except pass thru it. The ARX round will also penetrate barriers & still do it’s job; many of the JHPs I recover with the tip plugged with little or no expansion. Polycase is the ARX’s manufacture & now even go up to 50 cal. projectiles. Have you actually tried ARX ammo?

Hope this helps. It’s a great application of aero dynamics, if, he grooves can actually generate vortexes.
