In an American gun-lover’s dream world, the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934 and the Firearms Owners Protection Act (FOPA) of 1986 would be repealed. Among other regulations, both laws control and restrict the transfer and making of fully automatic firearms. As such, ordering a M16A1 lower to an FFL in the United States by an individual is nothing short of impossible.

So when a Gunbroker listing popped up advertising seven vintage M16 Colt 3-hole lowers for under $500 each – “discreet PayPal accepted” – my suspicion radar went way up. Sure enough, the listing is from Sweden, not the USA.

No, I will not including a link to the actual listing, and even though shipping to the states is advertised as only being $25 and “no FFL required”, I strongly suggest that you resist the urge to attempt adding one of these lowers to your collection. The two possible exceptions are: 1) you are a licensed importer/exporter with the proper ITAR licensing requirements or 2) you are an individual interested in spending a lot of time in federal prison.
