NEW RIMFIRE: TacSol TLP-22 Pistol

For 15 years, Tactical Solutions has quietly innovated some of the best rimfire pistol and rifle products on the market. And while there are a number of pistol suppressor hosts already available, TacSol has taken it upon themselves to produce the TLP-22, a gun with all of the features of the Pac-Lite barrel/upper built in from the start.

In response to a discussion about the best rimfire pistol setups, Silencer Shop’s Jeremy Mallette has been suggesting that I shoot a suppressed Browning Buckmark for a few months now. And I’ll be the first to admit that one of the only reasons I haven’t bought one yet is purely superficial – the Buckmark’s looks just doesn’t do it for me.

Tactical Solutions has combined the best aspects of their Pac-Lite upper receivers/barrels with the boringly reliable features of the Buckmark. As such, it looks like I am all out of excuses.

I’m looking forward to seeing the TLP-22 at this year’s SHOT Show.

From the TacSol TLP-22 Product Page:

New for 2017, TacSol® is proud to announce our first complete pistol, the TLP-22™. At its foundation is our time-tested, highly accurate, light-weight Trail-Lite™ barrel. The frame is manufactured from billet aluminum, shedding every ounce of weight possible while maintaining a perfect balance and feel.

Call me crazy, but I’d like one in this color scheme:

Browning Buck Mark in new clothes?

  • plumber576

That’s a really neat pistol but not $1150 neat.

    • Spencerhut

So I’m guessing you have never shot a Tac-Sol gun? Ever taken a stock Buckmark and built it up for competition use? $1150 is spot on for what it is.

      • plumber576

I have and I own plenty of TacSol parts. I’m not trying to say it isn’t a good gun or TacSol isn’t a good company, I’m just pointing out that it’s a very optimistic price.

  • Edeco

What’s that oval over the trigger? I hope it peels off.

    • TheNotoriousIUD

Im guessing its a “finger rest”.
I dont think it comes w/can which makes the price totally insane.
It would still be a stretch if it did.

  • Mike N.

I have under $600 in my Browning Buckmark ($300) with a Tacsol threaded barrel ($180) and top rail ($80). I don’t get what makes this functionally equivalent pistol worth double.

  • Jack Morris

    Well that’s one expensive Buckmark.

Not saying I wouldn’t pay a grand for a 22 pistol. Just saying if I did it would be a S&W Model 41 and Model 17 first.

So I’d need like 3 grand to buy that pistol.

    • Spencerhut

Buckmarks made to this standard shoot as well and tend to be as reliable as Model 41’s. I own several of both and shoot the piss out of them. The Buckmark has major weight advantage over the M41 and 617 when fitted as above and tends to swing and stop faster on target. All good guns, and I love my Model 41’s, but don’t discount a well built and run Buckmark.

This gun is like the Lexus LFA.

You can buy either the Lexus or the Lamborghini.
Both are fast and cool looking and cost about the same. But in the end would you rather say you own a Lexus or a Lamborghini?

        • Spencerhut

Does the tool work or not? Shooting competitions are not beauty contests. Will you drive your Lambo at 10 10ths with all abandon to win a race like you would the Lexus? I doubt it.

        • iksnilol

The Toyota definitely. I don’t suffer from a need to flaunt my status. I am amazing enough as is, no need to overdo it.

  • iksnilol

I find the bull barrel pointless if it isn’t integrally suppressed.

    • Flounder

Aren’t they all threaded? Just with a flush and color matched thread protector? At least that is what all the pictures show.

      • iksnilol

Yeah, but was hoping these were integrally suppressed. Becomes a bit silly to have a 5-6 inch barrel then a 8 inch suppressor in addition if you can avoid it.

  • Bierstadt54

    You are crazy.

    • Y-man

You need to explain this? So they can be corrected?

      • Bierstadt54

Pete asked to be called crazy. I obliged.

        • Y-man

          Ah…Ok. I see now…. Good call! LOL!
