Gift Idea for your Gunner: AR.5 Bottle Opener

Why 80% an AR-15 receiver when you can 50% one and never use it in a firearm, ever? My gut answer would be to never go halfsies on a receiver, especially if it cannot be used in a firearm. But, my gut answer would be wrong…

Nelson Precision Manufacturing has found a perfectly valid reason to shrink a receiver down to 50% and keep it from being used as a firearm – using it as a bottle opener. (Don’t mix alcohol and guns, boys and girls).

Nelsom Precision Manufacturing makes and sells the AR.5 Bottle Opener. Fashioned after America’s favorite modern sporting rifle lower, the AR.5 is a fantastic little gift for the firearm enthusiast in your life (note- you qualify as “in your life” if you need an excuse to buy this for yourself). The AR.5 is manufactured from billet 6061 aluminum and Type III hard coat anodized, just like its real-steel big brother.

To Quote Nelson:

These pocket size bottle openers are as cool as your full size pea shooter and screams F***in Merica! Each of these freedom loving mini AR lower bottle openers are manufactured in house to insure the quality of our product is never sacrificed and are proudly made in the U.S.A. The AR.5 “A better way to assault your favorite beverage”

Those interested can pick up the standard version or their USMC special edition AR.5 from their website. Retail is set at $30.

They could have put full retard mode markings on the selector switch. Instead of little bullet markings, make em little bottle caps.

Edit: Really my comment is on hold 4 the word retard? Don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. Sorry I wasn’t PC enough. Come on TFB.

Skuttlebutt has it “dis-cussed” out is the operative, not our UUUHHH-RRAAHH man with the plan. I’m on latrine number two diesel duty for committing much worse around here, but it was fun at the moment. Now, lol, not so much.

  • TheNotoriousIUD

Yeah, I dont see myself carrying around one of these.

Does this semi automatically make you have a drinking problem?

    • DanGoodShot

Seeing as no full auto markings… yes semi only. Lame

  • RickH

    Is it tactical?

Any chance that Timney makes a half-scale trigger? Or that Magpul makes some half-scale accessories. This might be wide enough to build in 32acp with Keltec mags!

I could buy a REAL Anderson, build an AR for $400 and shoot the caps off.

  • AHill

I know what you’re all wondering…. And yes someone has made a FIRING 1/2 scale AR in .17 HM2. Just Google “1/2 scale AR” and I’m pretty sure that it was first posted on a certain road that was high….

Love mine. Have it on my key chain n use it often
