POTD: P40 Warhawk Style Firearms

The P40 Warhawk was the first aircraft to don the infamous sharkmouth. It has been seen on other aircraft like the P51 and A10 Warthog. Some creative minds have taken this theme and applied it to firearms. The photo above was done by KM3 Solutions on a customer’s Sig P226 Legion.

Below is a painted Kel-Tec RFB

A Remington sporting the Sharkmouth. The gray underbody two tone really fits the paint scheme.

Of course the Spike’s Tactical Hellbreaker lower has a molded sharkmouth.

    • Jim Slade

Bet the attorney for the guy who blew his own hand off with a Keltec is at Kinko’s burnin’ color copies of that thing right now….

    • RocketScientist

Heheh. I started scrolling through the comments, wondering “I wonder how far down I’ll have to go to find someone commenting about how this would help get you convicted in a defensive use”. Not long, apparently.

  • AC97

That RFB made my eyes burn.

  • Full Name

“The P40 Warhawk was the first aircraft to don the infamous sharkmouth.”
I have seen pictures of WWI aircraft with sharkmouths. The P40 is probably the most famous, though.

    • Amplified Heat

Medieval armor probably had shark-mouths on it, too; guys have thought sharks are cool for quite some time

      • Evan

I’ve seen pictures of at least one historical helmet with something similar

  • valorius

    Pretty cool

  • Edeco

Should have six back-facing comp-holes in each side of the barrel & slide of the 1911, like exhausts. Would make it nasty and drain velocity, but meh.

  • therealgreenplease

    I never knew I needed this…

  • Sasquatch

When I saw the Sig I was impressed. As for the rest… wow someone was bad at arts and crafts.

  • Rob

The gun case is the best thing here.

  • RickH

Maybe Wilson will start offering a finish like that on their top of the line 1911’s…….that’ll be good for at least 5 bills.

  • Mystick

Repost? I think you did this one a few years ago…

  • noob

if you’re gonna paint it like a P40 why isn’t it in .40 cal?

  • SpartacusKhan
  • maodeedee

What is the point of embellishing firearms so that they look like children’s toys? I really don’t get it.

  • Realist

The Luftwaffe has a storied past on ”dressing” up their birds…this goes back to WW l.

Luftwaffe pilots used to paint taunts on their wings…one notable quote was written atop a Fokker Dr i wing “kennscht mi noch? (still remember me?)”. Other notable ”art” includes a fist clad in arm painted on the fuselage of an Albatross D V.
