Handl Defense – FN SCAR 17 Lower for quicker reloads prone

This is most likely not a product for everyone, but if you own an FN SCAR 17 and do a lot of prone shooting this is definitely for you.

The Mk17-M110 SSR trigger module is a lower designed to aid in quicker reloads in the prone position.

Handl Defense describes the new lower as follows:

Handl Defense introduces the Mk. 17 – M110 SSR Trigger Module. This SR-25 / M110 magazine alloy trigger module is compatible with the FN SCAR® 17S, Mk.17, and Mk.20 platforms. The Mk.17 M110 SSR features a 45 degree left side beveled magazine well. This unique feature allows the shooter to track targets while changing magazines from the prone position.

During Handl Defense’s product development, multiple Snipers with Special Operations combat experience were consulted. It was found that reloading a semi auto sniper system often requires the shooter to break sight alignment with their target. That the ability to track targets while reloading was a specific capability gap.

The Mk. 17 – M110 SSR Trigger Module is redesigned so that a shooter can now engage, track, reload, and engage targets without ever taking their eyes off target. This saves valuable time and allows the shooter to maintain a higher level of situational awareness in high stress environments. The left side cutout magazine well allows for standard 20 round M110 type magazines to be reloaded easily.

The Mk. 17 – M110 SSR is made from billet 7075-T6 aluminum. We have completely re-engineered the trigger module. It accepts SR 25 / M110 pattern magazines, yet maintains the basic profile of the FN SCAR® trigger module. The Mk. 17 – M110 Trigger Module was designed to work with industry standard modifications such as after market triggers and other accessories.

We have specifically designed the magazine-well to be compatible with the combat proven SR-25 and M110 pattern magazines. We redesigned the grip tang to accept various AR series compatible grips without beaver tails, with the exception of Magpul MOE + and ERGO grips. Additionally, we re-contoured the arch above the grip to accommodate gloved and smaller hands, allowing easier access to the fire controls.

The Handl Defense Mk.17 – M110 was tested extensively prior to its release. It was tested in excess of the standards for the CAR-H (Mk.17 and Mk.20) Spec Sheet of September 2011. The Mk.17 – M110 Trigger Module is made of 7075-T6 aluminum in order to exceed the expectations for durability and reliability for the MIL-STD testing.
