MidwayUSA Introduces New …. Flannel?

Al-home-improvement-tv-show-flannel

The Firearm Blog gets press releases for just about everything in the shooting industry, most of the time they are shooting related products, but once in a while I see a press release that makes me ask myself “what in the hell? Why am I getting this?”

This is probably one of the more strange press releases to date. Shooting sports giant MidwayUSA has announced a brand new flannel shirt that will bear the MidwayUSA tag on its collar … Who doesn’t like a good flannel I guess? I know that Al Borland will be pleased.

Clothing isn’t exactly a new product line for MidwayUSA, they have been selling jackets, hats, and shirts for years. Even with that knowledge, the press release was out of the norm.

The shirt itself looks like it would be a solid shirt. After all, it does come with sleeves, buttons, and even a collar. The 100% cotton flannel is pre-washed and pre-shrunk with a brushed exterior (whatever that means) leaving the interior smooth for easy layering on colder days.

I like a flannel just like the next outdoorsy guy, and with cheaper clothes being the norm at retailers finding a nice thick and warm flannel seems to be a challenge. Hopefully, MidwayUSA’s flannel changes that. Oh, if you were wondering what this has to do with firearms, Midway sells gun stuff now and again.

You can learn more about the MidayUSA flannel by clicking HERE, it appears the flannel is on sale currently and is available in 4 colors.

Expected to be amused, actually interested in shirts.

  • Blake

Love to know who the OEM is on these. Hopefully good stuff.

  • Kevin Derby

I think part of this is the whole notion that Hillary was supposed to get elected, and if the firearms industry tanked (no pun intended) then companies like Midway would have to diversify.

This seems akin to S&W announcing a holding company branding change to “Outdoor…” to have something to reflect properties other than firearms.

Midway always has tried to sell a bunch of ancillary products. They sell all kinds of hunting and shooting attire. Adding wool shirts doesn’t seem like diversity. If it had holes in the chest for your nipples to stick through, then you’re talking different.

You sir get up voted for the funny comment of the day! Rolling laughing from that.

  • pun&gun

Your tags are wonderful. You forgot something from Wilson though.

    • Major Tom

Wouldn’t that be for if they had a line of wooden privacy fence kits?

    • Patrick R. – Senior Writer

      True.

  • Major Tom

Looks pretty snazzy. Flannel is always useful in the cold.

  • John Yossarian

Looks sharp. If I needed to add another shirt to my collection, might as well throw one in with the gun parts shopping cart.

It’s like Cabela’s or Home Depot selling beef jerky, etc. at the exit. You know your customer base, what they like and might need – And how you might save them time from going elsewhere.

Midway should add a dating site.

  • Friend of Tibet

    + 20% hillbilly appearance
    +15% redneck level
    -60% attractiveness

I will take tactical jacket over this any day…….

    • Billy Jack

If you wear it with grape smugglers you’ve achieved grey man status. That’s pretty tactical.

  • Hoplopfheil

Not a bad looking shirt, but likely to get co-opted by the lumbersexuals.

I’ll just keep wearing my Carhartt shirts. Of which I have far too many.

  • billyoblivion

There is a lot of places they could have gone with that that would actually have been useful or interesting. Like magnets under the bottom few buttons so to make clearing for the draw easier. Like a good *wool* flannel that is warmer and more weatherproof.

Heck, this is just another big company coming out with another parts-bin AR15.

“but once in a while I see a press release that makes me ask myself “what in the hell? Why am I getting this?”

So naturally, you spread the love.

    • Patrick R. – Senior Writer

      Why would I not?

  • adverse4

Does this shirt make my butt look too big?

  • javierjuanmanuel

    But is it tactical ?

  • Billy Jack

All those lines confuse ladies then they go home with you. It’s a proven fact.
