Interview with Tamir Porat: Designer Behind the Tavor

This interview is a great example of why I both love and hate Shot Show. You get to meet people from the firearms industry who travel across the globe to be there. But it’s also a crowded, noisy event without much for sit down and chat space. So please accept my apologies for the sound quality on this.

But it does offer an interesting insight into the initial development of the Tavor, and how some aftermarket add-ons like the podium can trace their origins back to that starting concept.

Some of those prototypes from Porat’s design studio have appeared on TFB before. If you haven’t seen them, I’d definitely suggest taking a look at the Versia Tavor Prototypes.

Tamir Porat is currently focused on ReCover Tactical, which makes aftermarket grip & rail panels for 1911 and M9 pistols.
