Manticore Arms Transformer AK Forend

Manticore Arms, makers of quality AR-15 and AK-47 parts and accessories, have just released a modular forearm system for AK-patterned rifles. Like it’s AR Rail sibling, the aluminum hand guard is named the ‘Transformer’ and has two removable side plates that can be swapped out for M-LOK, Keymod or grip panels. The system allows the shooter to configure their AK forend as the mission or equipment dictates.

An optional top cover that includes a top picatinny rail section is also available to complete the set. MSRP for the AK Transformer is $119 and the top cover runs $79.

Future options include a version for milled AK receivers as well as wood grip panel inserts.

From the Transformer product page:

The Transformer Forend for AK gives the look and feel of a more traditional AK forend while giving the ability to mount Keymod and/or M-LOK accessories and other optional components, all while mounting exactly like the original handguard!

The forend is simply installed like any standard AK handguard and is held in place by the front handguard retainer. An extremely precise and tight fight, in addition to careful design of the interface points with weapon ensures that the mounting is rock solid!

Transfomer Panels can be installed on each side and the underside to allow for grip panels, Keymod, M-LOK, or even Picatinny panels! The rail comes standard with three “Snakeskin” texture polymer panels, other panels can be purchased separately.

Weighing 3.5 ounces it is actually almost an ounce lighter than the original polymer forend, yet several times stronger! An optional Superlow Optics Mount Upper which weighs only 2 ounces allows you to mount an Aimpoint Micro on its picatinny top rail and have co-witness with the iron sights.

Even better, the Transformer Forend for AK lower will work with the standard polymer or wood upper handguard, or even with an Ultimak railed upper gas tube! Manufactured from solid billets of 6061 T6 aluminum and anodized black the Transformer Rail for AK upper and lower include instructions and all hardware necessary for installation and are 100% made in the USA. The rail is marked “S” on the receiver insertion lug to denote it is made for stamped receivers.

Oh, Boy. More heat conductors posing as functional handguards. If the “mission” is to burn your hands when using then mission accomplished.

If your a real russian operator you always operate tactical teir-one AKs in ice-cold enviroments, see this as a radiator.

Unergonomic heated handgrip you newer wanted. LOL

  • Sermon 7.62

Bad. It looks like Zenit rail, but more crude.

Forget the bottom part, the top cover for a red dot is where it’s at. Smart to market that separately….

    • K-Gunner

Good idea but it looks like the top cover has to attach to the bottom via screws. Of course they want you to have to buy both.

  • pieslapper

Didn’t even know there was a wormhole around here, how are they bringing in stuff from Manticore?

  • Mattie Dimes

I like what Sven at Manticore is trying to do, especially where they are designing/prototyping parts for the CZ Scorpion. I just wish they wouldn’t make their parts so damn ugly.

Man… I assumed this was coming eventually, and have been anxiously awaiting it since the Arc-locks disappeared. I loathe keymod. But now?… those bottom corners… eehh… Hurts my hand just to look at.
    What happened, Sven?
… (Maybe the keymod version’s not so bad after all.)
