Slow-Mo Awesomeness – Dual-Wielding Taurus Judge’s

Sometimes I just need a break – a break from writing on the latest releases, bemoaning current superfluous trends, and reviewing firearms from across the spectrum. On second thought… I don’t, I love this job especially with the editors allowing the occasional use of snark.

But, I do enjoy a break or two from the technical coverage and taking a moment to enjoy what firearms are all about… shooting! And arguably, there is nothing more fun that shooting something that arguable serves no practical purpose, like Taurus Judge handguns.

Unfortunately, we have to live a bit vicariously on this one, as I do not own a Judge nor ever will, see earlier statement that they “arguably serve no practical purpose.” However, I am not so blind as to not enjoy it if someone gives me the opportunity to dual-wield them as Andrew does, demolishing the usual set of targets at short range in short order.

The gratuitous slow-motion is as always utterly mesmerizing, especially on the soda pop where the combination of carbonation and shot equal an entertaining expose of physics. Almost as entertaining is Andrew missing the larger watermelons near the soda, which are dispatched in point-blank fashion later.

If you enjoy the slow-motion videos, Andrew has a new channel called GY6SlowMow. Check it out here.

    Sure they serve a purpose.
    Putting large holes in things.

At exceedingly short distances. Presence of holes rather than dents conditional on non-use of birdshot.

        True dat.

Once again, that’s not how you pluralize something. Judges, not Judge’s. The video you linked does it correctly and you managed to correctly pluralize other words in the body of your post.

As an English major, one of the funnier things I witness are people mocking me for spending thousands of dollars in studying an outmoded “burger-flipping” program, and then immediately complaining about the atrocious grammar and spelling habits of other people.

Nothing demands absolute 100%, doctorate-level literacy like the internet. People will call you on every mistake, all the time. 🙂

  • Out of the Fray

If I remember correctly the Judge was originally an anti carjacking gun.

  • Don Ward

I guess there’s more than one way to show who’s king of the trailer park.

  • It’s funny to point and laugh at dumb things, sure, but has anyone ever done any practicality tests with the 6″ barrel version launching 000 buckshot? I’d really like to know if the extra inches add enough velocity to take this thing out of the “pure dumb fun” category. It would also be nice if S&W made a Governor with a longer barrel so someone could try it with a brand that’s a little less prone to spontaneous auto-disassembly than a Taurus.

The moment when the fireball hits the watermelon, seamlessly becoming the shock wave that wrecks it, is gorgeous.

I own a 6 inch version of the Judge. After doing a major trigger job on it It is damned accurate with handloaded .45 Colt. Shoots like a finely tuned S&W or Colt.
