Chad Enos of Kel-Tec recently posted this up. A Navy Blue Sub2000 Gen2.  Not too many blue carbines out there other than a couple custom jobs and the Iron Patriot AR from JP Enterprises. It is certainly different and it actually looks rather good. I may have to send my Sub2000 back to Kel-Tec to get the polymer swapped to blue.

According to Chad Enos, the Blue Sub2000 Gen 2 are exclusive through Orion Arms.

Looks like a very ugly training rifle.

    • BattleshipGrey

I was just asking Annonymoose about you yesterday. Haven’t seen you post in a while. How you been?

      • TheNotoriousIUD

        Good, just been busy.
Havent even been to the range all summer.

        Real life is a b-tch.

        • BattleshipGrey

I know the feeling. I’ve made it to the range more this year but the last few years we’ve hardly been water skiing with my dad even though he’s only an hour away. Glad you’re doing well though.

          • TheNotoriousIUD

Man, I havent been water skiing since I was in HS when I lived on lake LBJ. Jesus, I could go for some of that right now. Its like a thousand degrees in Houston.

          • BattleshipGrey

It was crazy hot and humid here the last week too but it got a bit more comfortable last night. Getting in the water does help a ton. Let me know if you ever passing through Iowa, we’ll make it happen. 🙂

          • TheNotoriousIUD

It’ll be hot as hell until early October here. Its like Hanoi right now.
I dont get up that way much but if I do ill give you a heads up and bring some shootin’ irons.

    • Nicholas C

It may be ugly but I can race one pretty quickly in USPSA.

      • TheNotoriousIUD

        Come on, dude.
Do you really want to win that way?

        • Nicholas C

LOL As my friend Adam says “Fast is Fast”

It doesnt matter what I use as long as I can go fast with it. And right now there isnt much that is faster for me than my S2K. But I can be just as fast with other guns so its not really a head of the pack. It is just a fun gun to shoot.

    • DevilDog58

      It really does, Notorious.

  • Kevin Riley

    #BlackRiflesMatter

  • Martin Grønsdal

if you ask me, the concept is great; cheap 9 mm package, fun for plinking. Why didn’t this catch on properly?

is it because the AR15 is quite cheap, and readily available?

    • A.WChuck

Two reasons (and I own one):
1: Over priced for what it is.
2: Highly variable quality control. Some seem to ship partially finished, like my own.

      • Martin Grønsdal

        ok. How does it shoot?

        • A.WChuck

Now that I fixed it, it shoots fine. It is a fun little rifle, though I don’t trust mine enough for anything outside of plinking. It is also blow-back operated so the recoil is surprisingly stout.

          • Nicholas C

Never had any issues with my Sub2K except one time the magazine I used had a fail to feed. you can reduce the recoil with their brass buffer or the Sumo charging handle.

          • A.WChuck

I have been thinking about one or both of those so that my wife can shoot it comfortably. However, she can use my Marlin 1894 in .357 mag with nothing else added so…

  • Joshua Rager

Anyone notice the different front sight assembly on the bottom rifle? Addressed the issues with front sight going loose on some rifles maybe?

    • Good eye!

    • A.WChuck

Yes, Kel-Tec redesigned the front sight. Too bad it was just after I got mine.

  • All my PCC’s are desert tan. Easier to sort, find and count. Silly, I know, but it is what I like to do.

    • DevilDog58

I don’t think it’s silly, Bro. I’m 58 and I’ve been naming my guns and cars since I was a kid. To each his own and that’s part of what makes this a great Country. That we can do stuff that others think might be weird or quirky but we have the freedom to do it. My daughters make fun of me for naming my stuff like that but my son doesn’t. For instance, my shotgun has “Baby” written on the side and my Jeep has “Sundance” on it’s sides. And I love both of them. A lot of guys think it’s stupid but I don’t really care what they think, as long as it makes me happy and no one is being harmed.

  • David Harmon

I kind of want one now…

    • CS

I’d buy 3 if they’d offer RED and WHITE.

      • David Harmon

They whole trifecta of glory rifles.

  • 22winmag

Somewhat off topic, but I was getting a consistent 2,650fps out of my Sub2000 .40S&W using Liberty Civil Defense ammo. Accurate as hell too!

    • Xtorin O’hern

holy crap, that’s SBR AR-15 performance

    • DevilDog58

      Man, that is smokin’!!!

      • iksnilol

        6-7 liters?

        *Smh

  • Pinche Ben

That’s not navy blue. Real navy blue is deep blue, like the “deep blue sea”—the darker the better, as far as I’m concerned. The color of that gun is more like cobalt blue, except with a cheap, plasticky look.

    • DevilDog58

You’re right, it is closer to a cobalt blue, which is why I said I could get one and it would match the contrasting color on my Jeep. 🙂

  • smartacus

they should offer a sub2000 in 45GAP already

    • LetsTryLibertyAgain

Forget 45 GAP. I’ve been begging for a 10mm SuperSubbie for almost a decade. It’s not happening. I can’t blame Kel-Tec for not catering to 10mm fan boys, particularly given that they already sell every 9mm and .40 SUB-2000 they can build. I’d also like to see an ultralight mini SUB-2000 in 22 LR, in stainless. I’m less gaga for that, after several years of expensive and hard to find 22 LR ammo.

      • smartacus

        forget about a 10mm.
Subbie can only fit small frame mags including GLOCK 26 and 27.
That’s why they should round out the offerings with a 45 GAP that accepts small frame GLOCK 39 mags

    • iksnilol

Somebody is actually serious about .45 GAP? If you’re going to have similar-to-but-not-45-ACP then I’d rather recommend .460 Rowland or .45 super.

      • smartacus

        ok let’s see:
Sub2000 is a Kel-Tec made to accept double-stack magazines from a small frame GLOCK
        (26 and 27 in 9mm and .40S&W flavors)

The third and final small frame with double-stack magazine is the GLOCK 39 in .45GAP
That is why i followed it to the logical conclusion of putting the question out there of completing the Sub2000 lineup with a .45 caliber option

Your suggestions of .460 Rowland and .45 Super are impossible because the Sub2000 was never big enough to accept .45ACP

i personally would have loved it if they offered a Sub2000 in .45 ACP and rebarrel it for Rowland or Super; but i’d happily take a Subbie in 45 any which way they come, even if it meant GAP

  • Sasquatch

Now the real trick is finding one when I have the money.

    • DevilDog58

For me, the real trick is just finding money and adding a gun my wife doesn’t know about.

      • Sasquatch

Aunt that the truth. We be like

        • DevilDog58

LOLOL. Great pic, man. Seriously though, I couldn’t get away with buying another gun. My wife knows exactly what I (we) have. I just wish I could get her to go shooting with me more, though.

          • Sasquatch

I usauly have to have leverage. So when she is for clothes shoes and books I’m like…

  • Leigh Rich

    Bloomberg supporters hate colored guns.

    • DevilDog58

LOLOL. They don’t hate black guns as much as they do other colors, though. 🙂

  • Doom

WHOA MAMA! now if only they could produce enough that I could get one, and not in terrible mag/caliber choices. Wish they would just go pure glock, no other companies mags are as cheap, widely available, and reliable. especially the 33 round magazines that really make the sub 2k a contender for HD use and cheap plinking.

  • Nice little 100 yard blasters!
I have two of Glock 9mm S2Ks, one basic Black, and one Black & Nickel Boron.
I do recommend upgrading the trigger if K-T is still using their craptastic plastic trigger. I replaced mine with an aluminum one from Performance Services LLC.

  • DevilDog58

That’s kinda cool. I could have a gun that matches the contrast color of my Jeep, lol.

  • DevilDog58

I always thought Forest Green was my favorite color until I started looking at my clothes. Probably 75% of them are Navy Blue or contain some Navy Blue or another blue in the shirt’s pattern. Funny how your subconscious tells you things if you pay attention to it, which I obviously hadn’t been paying ANY attention to. But besides Navy Blue, I just love most shades of blue. When I was a boy I really loved Bluegreen and I used Cobalt Blue to contrast my silver Jeep. My wife is a hair colorist (among many other talents) and she can look at a color and tell you what the base color of it is. It doesn’t sound hard but, believe me, her ability to judge color is beyond reproach.

  • Paul

Would really be awesome if you could actually find a New Sub 2k in Glock 9mm at msrp.

  • whamprod

I’d love to pick up a Sub 2000 Gen II, but the ones that take Glock 17 or 19 magazines seem to be pretty hard to find…..or they are priced above MSRP.

  • Treyh007

    One of my Favorites…..

  • Jacob Wagoner

Just found one one these at my local store in 9mm glock, bought it in a heartbeat after reading this article when it came out
