Wilson Combat and Larry Vickers have teamed up again, this time to support a firearms charity, GunsForACause.org. The specific 1911 was Larry’s personal carry and demo gun, a Wilson Combat Vickers’ Elite edition handgun, personally worked on by Larry himself and the Wilson Combat team.
The give-away firearm, has a bevvy of features to satisfy the discerning 1911 enthusiast. The slide features front and rear serrations. The commander-style hammer with full-size beavertail is mounted to a frame with front-strap and main-spring housing checkering. The mainspring housing is slightly rounded. Controls are right-handed only, with an extended safety and standard-length slide stop. The trigger is solid and the sights are Novak-style. Finally, the barrel is bushing-mounted with a flush cut barrel, counter-sunk crown and fluted chamber.
Normally, I’d scoff at a the giving away of a used firearm, but despite what I thought may have been a OK class, Larry knows his stuff on the Browning platform. A used 1911 from Larry is going to be miles ahead of even the newest handgun from any production.
The give-away is free to enter, but it is (of course) up to the entrant to provide a charitable donation. Those interested can enter directly at the GunsForACause.org website.
**It should be noted, that GunsForACause, org has little information on their website about who they are and their percentage of donation, etc. They have worked with some big names (Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, CZ and others), but participant should take note of their comfort prior to donating.
