Nightforce Releases CMP Compliant SR – Fixed 4.5 x 24 Scope

The shooting world was abuzz earlier this year when the Civilian Marksmanship Program finally got with the times updated its rules to allow the use of lightly magnified optics within its Service Rifle division, bringing the CMP in line with current service rifles used by the various armed services. Specifically, this rules change was to allow the Trijicon ACOG as used by the United States Marine Corps.

Meeting the fully allowed letter of the law (or new rules) is Nightforce with the release of its Competition SR optic. The new SR starts with 4.5x magnification with a 24mm fixed objective, which falls well beneath the 34mm set by the rules. The optic is a full 30mm tube, compatible with any commercial mount. The Competition SR is 9.9 inches long and weighs just shy of a pound at 15.4 ounces.

Adjustment is 100 minute of angle across both windage and elevation in 1/4 MOA adjustments. All turrets are exposed with “large, easy-to-read engraving.” Parallax is set for 200 yards, giving a parallax-free sight at all Service Rifle distances.

The new SR-1 reticle is non-illuminated, designed just for service rifle competition. There is a 10 MOA center circle with a 8 MOA crosshair designed to look similar to those experienced shooting iron sights.

Retail for the Competition SR is set at a whopping $1950.
