NEW Fab Defense AK Picatinny Dust Cover

Zahal posted up this video showcasing Fab Defense’s new PDC (Picatinny Dust Cover) for AK rifles. The PDC has a unique patented knob that tightens the fit of the PDC so the dust cover stays rigid and maintains zero for the optic mounted on it.

The PDC is for sale on Zahal’s website for $245. Click here to check it out.

  • Tritro29

Yes, but why? For 240 i can have a second AK…

    • Joe Goins

Where and how? They aren’t that cheap.

      • Tritro29

        In Russia, at home.

        • andrey kireev

yeah, good luck with their gun laws.

          • Tritro29

What? As far as it’s not a select fire weapon, it’s fairly easy.

          • BjornTheBrave

Hand guns and hunting rifles only wasn’t it? And there is no such thing remotely close to the 2nd Amendment anywhere in the world, including Russia. What’s the point of owning a hand gun if you can’t carry?

          • Bob

Hey, I live in the US and have a CCW and no holsters. Not allowed to carry where I work or pretty much anywhere else, so what’s the point? Doesn’t need a holster to sit on a nightstand or in a car…

          • Tritro29

In case we have to teach polite manners to uninvited people from the West.

          • Devil_Doc

I wonder how the Ukrainians feel about uninvited people from the east? Just saying…

          • Tritro29

Hum, you mean uninvited people from the West? As far as I can remember it’s not a Russian Sukhoi 25 flying from Novorossyisk that strafed Luhansk City Hall. It was an “Unknown Sukhoi 25 flying Ukrainian colors, that took off from Kiev AFB that killed 13 persons, all civilians.

If you want to talk about that event (that basically put the country definitely down the warpath) and other such nice moves (Odessa, Mariupol).

Btw I wonder how Ukrainians feel about the fact that their transparent and non-corrupt “NEW” Governement, hasn’t found out who killed about 80 people in two days in Kiev two years ago. Not even been able to blame Putin. I know, it was that sole SBU Omega handicaped guy they tried to frame.

Enjoy your new pet project in Kiev, we’re done trying to prop up part of a country that clearly hasn’t gone out of the wild 90’s.

            Ukraine today, Russia from 1992-1998

          • Tritro29

Handguns net (with exceptions), Select fire net (with exceptions), semi auto you could basically own a AT-gun and there’s high chance no one would even blink.

          • BjornTheBrave

Russia seriously needs to get its gun law act together with that hideous crime rate and general anarchy. Good luck with that mate, because I don’t think Vladimir Vladimirovich and his puppets fancy the idea of an armed populace.

          • Tritro29

… Haha. You don’t know what armed populace means, BOY. When your people will roll down the alley with Army storage M60’s and M1’s then you’ll understand what an armed populace is. A couple of overweight/overfit guys trying to look cool, having watched Red Dawn one time too many, qualifies as a masquerade, not a militia.

Crime rate in Russia? Well given the imprisonment rate in the US…I think we’e safe.

        • Joe Goins

Send them across the ocean (legally of course).

    • BjornTheBrave

Made in Israel? All of their stuff is overpriced (and overrated). Look at IWI, they are just the Israeli HK: overpriced and overrated. Buy American.

      • Tritro29

I’m Russian, not Israeli, and Isreali products have their ups and downs.

        • BjornTheBrave

Privet. Some Israeli stuff is good, some is mweh, Most of it is overrated and overpriced. Rafael is an interesting company though but let’s stick with the commercial fire arms and related products market ๐Ÿ˜‰

          • ozzallos .

            Yiddish meh?

The Jericho handguns are excellent, being CZ-75 based, with modifications to suit their own needs. I own a few, and they’re among the most accurate in my collection, and new in box, they’re competitively priced. They have to be since the competition in the handgun market is intense.

The new Galil Ace is interesting, but they’re AWFULLY damn proud of them. Not sure if I’d be willing to pay anywhere near MSRP seeing as I could get something with better accuracy potential, like a Mutant, which also has a huge pre-existing aftermarket to tailor it to my needs.

And I share your enthusiasm for the Negev guns.

        • snmp

in fact Galil Ace is base Galil build in columbia by INDUMIL

          • Reef Blastbody

Yes, Indumil produces Galil ACE rifles and the traditional Galil ARM, but those are for use by the Colombian military. I’d need to check an ACE and see what origin markings it had before I’d believe they were being exported for commercial sales in the US.

        • BjornTheBrave

With regard to Jericho: I guess you’re lucky then. From what I understand Jericho’s are pretty much hit or miss. And -of course with all due respect to your guns- I highly doubt it to be superior to a P226 MK25 SRT w/ Bill Springfield trigger job and XS big dot express sights.

Galil Ace is cool, but way too proprietary for my taste. I’d rather go for a regular AKM pattern AK that can be customized.

      • Machinegunnertim

“All of their stuff is overpriced (and overrated).” I’ve noticed that about all of their gun accessories. And it’s real frustrating when it’s something cool that you can’t get anywhere else.

        • BjornTheBrave

I understand where you’re going at, but I don’t find IWI to be thaaaat innovative or exclusive for that matter. Same goes for FAB. Magpul makes far better stuff. So do Vltor and BCM.

  • Jim

If you have a cheap gun this is out of the price range for some.. And if you have a arsenal you don’t want to use this and lose your factory serialized dust cover. Be simple and get a Arsenal rail that hooks on the side. You can keep the look of your original rifle and have a rail.. Only if you have a side rail mount on your ak that is!

    • SLi-Fox

I totally agree. I’m in the process of getting the original hardware back on one of my Saigas. The TWS rail isn’t working for me. I have the Arsenal side rail on 2 rifles and it’s the way to go.

  • Ax

Haha I love it when he’s presenting the magazine holding buttstock and he goes

“…so you can keep a ten round magazine in your buttstock, just in case… [short moment of awkward silence] uhm so we’re going to see how it shoots…”

Watch it and you’ll see what I mean. 01:00 in the video.

  • BrandonAKsALot

Call me skeptical, but every dust cover rail claims to hold zero and so far only the Zenit actually does, but it also has a hell of a lot more points of attachment. Side rails for me. If I had to have an optic on one without a rail, I’d go Ultimak.

    • BjornTheBrave

Try the Krebs RSRS, pricey, but you get what you pay for. And it’s Made in USA.

  • Vhyrus

um… $245? That’s a 2 in front, right? Cause I can buy the nicest side rail mount on the market and spend $100 bucks less than that. That’s waaaay too expensive.

    • notalima

Lol. Fab Defense is like H&K. “Adding decimals places because we hate you”. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Frank

huh? They’re back up sights are pretty inexpensive iirc, a lot of their stuff is, about in line with magpul’s stuff.

        • Nicholas C

I wouldn’t go that far. Their product designer does not have the same skills as the Magpul designers in terms of aesthetics. Magpul stuff always looks good. Cant say the same for FAB defense.

  • BjornTheBrave

Pointless because it’s not compatible with the Davis LINCH. The Krebs Rear Sight Rail System is.

  • Bob

You know, if you go by the comments section in these parts, no new products at worth selling. Yet somehow companies do actually sell these things and make money. Just because some of us have no use for or are skeptical about something doesn’t mean it is worthless.

  • Chase

I see a lot of people recommending the Krebs RSR. FYI Krebs stop making the RSR in 2015.

  • Elijah Decker

I’d like to see AKOU test this rail. If it survives their abuse and still holds zero, I’d buy one.

    It’d better for that price.

  • ABeiruty

Get midwest front rail and with your favorite red do and you are done.
