New Blackhawk CCW Holster

Blackhawk holster

Just days ahead of the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meetings, Blackhawk announced a new concealed carry holster that offers a variety of ways it can be worn. It is called the Leather Tuckable Pancake Holster.

The new Leather Tuckable Pancake Holster is a hybrid design that matches a leather backer to an injection molded shell that holds the pistol in place. The backer has three belt slots that allow the rig to be worn as a traditional outside the waistband belt slide holster. Since there are three slots, the rig can be worn with a neutral cant (straight up draw) or with a forward cant on the strong side.

Reversing the rig and using the cant will allow the owner to carry a pistol cross draw. Some people who spend a lot of time in a car prefer the comfort and accessibility that a cross draw rig offers.

The rig also comes with belt clips. These clips attach to the backer and allow the owner to use the holster inside the waistband. Due to the design of the clips, a shirt can be tucked in over the top of the gun. There are three different attachment points for each clip. This allows the user to adjust both ride height and cant.

Blackhawk will initially make these holsters for the S&W M&P, S&W Shield, Ruger SP101, Taurus 85 and Kahr 9mm and .40 S&W pistols. The suggested retail price on these holsters is $86.95.

Kinda the same as the Hidden Hybrid Holster. My personal experience with the HHH IWB/OWB in one was that it did neither job well, but wasn’t terrible.

I can’t speak for this product, but I never had the best image of Blackhawk in my head. I had a Serpa holster from them with some faux carbon fiber trim on it. It came off, so I called them up and told them about it, saying if they just wanted to send me the piece I’ll gladly pay for it and glue it on. They refused payment and a couple days later a package showed up with an entire new holster.

Between that positive experience, and being satisfied with some of their other products, I now have an extremely positive image of them and wouldn’t hesitate to buy something from them, knowing they’ll absolutely stand behind it.

Does ANYONE currently make a good quality leather holster that has a thumb break retention device that does not resemble a turtle on your hip??

    • will_ford

BlackHills leather or El Paso Saddle. Blackhills are very slow. Theres one more. CME HOLSTERS they are a little faster.

    BIG UNCOMFORTABLE JUNK!

and you know this how?….its not even released yet

      • will_ford

I have several like that but flatter. THEY ARE HIGHLY uncomfortable and made out of plastic that DOES NOT WORK for me. They do not conceal well either. I have BOXES of holsters YOU need one like that ?

      • will_ford

One more thing the plastic DIGS. Especially driving. to me anyway.

Man your waistline/gut must be HUGE, to give you problems wearing a non-existent holster that hasn’t been released yet.

          • will_ford

MY waist is large and I wasted bunches of money on holsters just like this. I have been carrying since the early 80’s. Plastic has always dug on me one way or another. BEFORE I was HUGE as you say. NOW, If I cant place my opinion on here just let me know. I said it to save someone else the cost of such a holster. Other than that YOU can K.M.R.A.

          • RocketScientist

Alright, I’m walking away. If you can’t realize how phrases like “holsters just like this” are totally meaningless when THERES NO WAY YOU KNOW WHAT THIS HOLSTER FEELS/FITS LIKE BECAUSE IT HASN’T EVEN BEEN SOLD YET then I’m not going to waste my breath. It’d be like me saying “I drove a bunch of fords back in the 70s and they sucked, and this new Chevy will be JUST LIKE them, so even though its just a concept car and hasn’t even been built yet, I’m sure it’ll be total crap”. If I said that, I’d sound like a total f***ing idiot. Which is what you sound like. Good luck to ya boss.

    When a decepticon transforms into a holster…

  • Cal.Bar

The issue I have with this (and many other rigs) is that they are WAAAY to wide. Look at it – It’s over twice the width the entire gun. That’s going to cover a third of your torso (and it doesn’t look like it contours that well)

  • Will

They’re making them for a Taurus before Glocks. Give them credit, they know their market.

  • It costs how much!? For a piece of leather and some pieces of molded plastic? The Desantis Invader holsters can be bought for about $35
