Palmetto State Armory’s KS-47 Rifle

Palmetto State Armory just released their new KS-47 rifle it’s their take on a AR-15 pattern rifle that uses AK magazines and fires the 7.62×39 round. They already have an AR-15 that shoots the 7.62×39 round called the AR-47 available but it requires special modified AR magazines just for the AR-47 and similar rifles. Ain’t nobody got time for that, if you’re going to use 7.62×39 rounds why not use the already cheap and very plentiful AK mags? That’s where the KS-47 rifle comes in, it uses the popular modular configuration of the AR-15 but it can accept AK mags. Doesn’t this already sound familiar? It should, CMMG did it a few years ago with their MK. 47 Mutant rifle which we got to review. Check out our review of the Mutant here.

The Palmetto State Armory K-S47 features a 7075-T6 billet lower receiver that accepts the standard AR-15 fire control group. The extended mag release is outside the trigger guard and moves just like the ones on the AK but it has the added benefit of oversized side paddles so you can use your trigger fingertip to drop the mag. The upper is also billet 7075 T6 aluminum with a chrome moly vanadium barrel with a 1 in 10 twist and M4-style feed ramps.

The bolt carrier group works with either PSA’s AR-47 mags or standard AK-47 mags. It has an extended firing pin and the carrier is made out of 8620 steel and is chrome lined and phosphate coated. The gas key is also chrome lined and is attached with grade 8 bolts. The bolt is made out of 9310 steel and is also phosphate coated. The new KS-47 rifle weights in at 6.6 lbs unloaded and will start out at $999.99, visit palmettostatearmory.com for more info. Check out the KS-47 in action below.
