Launch 6 Knife

    Launch 6

Kershaw recently introduced a new automatic opening knife called the Launch 6. This is the newest addition to the company’s Launch line of automatic knives. It has a 3.75″ blade, and the knife measures 5.1″ when open. According to the company, the opening button was recessed slightly to reduce the possibility of the blade opening unintentionally.

The company uses CPM154 steel for the blade and adds a DLC coating. For those not familiar, DLC stands for diamond-like carbon and the coating is said to decrease friction, increase hardness and improve corrosion resistance.

The handle is made of anodized aluminum. It has an integrated backspacer and a reversible pocket clip. The knife is designed to be carried tip up. At the rear of the handle is a lanyard tie off hole.

The Launch 6 knife is made in the company’s Oregon facility located in the United States. It has a suggested retail price of $169.99 US. The knife carries a MSRP of $220.99 Canadian.

I’ve had good luck with the company’s more moderately priced folding knives as general purpose tools. The Launch 6 is obviously a more specialized knife and comes in at a significantly higher price point. I would be interested to see how it stacks up against some of the other automatic opening knifes on the market.
