At SHOT Show 2016 I stumbled upon the Scavenger 6 Multi-Caliber Rifle from Tim Ralston. It’s a survival rifle that can shoot up to 21 different calibers. If you don’t remember Tim Ralston is the guy who shot himself in the thumb on the Nat Geo show “Doomsday Preppers”, but he’s also the guy behind the X-Caliber system we posted about a while back.

Back to the Scavenger 6 rifle, it was designed for bugging out and survival in mind. Instead of having a rifle that can fire just one caliber the Scavenger 6 can make use of 21 different popular calibers from .22LR all the way up to .308 Winchester. The revolvers six clinders are also barrels, each being 7 inches. Ralston will offer different cylinder barrels he calls a “CB”. His standard CB will fire .22, .22mag, .17 mag, .380, .38spec/.357 magnum, 9mm, .40SW, 10mm, 45acp, .45colt/.410, .44mag, .223, 7.62×39, 7.62×51, .270, 30/06, 5.56, 30/30, .243, .270 and .308.

The Survival CB will shoot .22, 38spec/.357 magnum, 9mm, 45acp, .45colt/.410, and .223. The Hunter CB will shoot .243, .308. 30/06, 30/30, .223 and .45colt/.410. The Battle CB will shoot 5.56, 7.62×39. 30/06, .270, .308 and 7.62×51. Whew, that’s a lot of calibers. While I get the idea behind this firearm it just doesn’t seem all that practical really. I’ll stick to my AR15 or AK47 if I ever had to run to the hills. The Scavenger 6 is still a prototype and no pricing or a release date is know just yet, check out scavengersix.com for more info.
