I have a soft spot for storage things and ways to carry stuff. Probably some off-shoot from my OCD. Anyway, I am drawn to boxes and packs and hard cases whenever I see them. This year, I had been pre-contacted for an interview for a company that had a couple of products of interest to me, International Supplies.
The primary product that interested me (and had some great marketing) was their “Explorer Cases” which are very much like Pelican or Storm cases with a claim for being impervious and indestructible (sans shooting or reducing with HE I would assume). A couple of promo shots show the cases being chewed on by a Great White and mauled by a polar bear. Personally I had a Pelican case in Iraq (one of the wheeled medium sized boxes for carting my electronics around and it could not keep the sand out). It was okay for storage and bump protection (and maybe some sprinkled water) but that was about it.
The Explorer cases certainly are rugged and they come in a very wide variety of shapes and sizes (though nothing in the very small range). Additionally they have pluck foam inserts as well as discreet soft bags designed to fit the form factors of the cases. I should be getting in a case for review and we will see if my special “talent” can overcome it’s integrity. While I was at the booth a filmographer (Cirina Catania of The Catania Group) was there and she extolled the cases, having dragged a set all around the world in a variety of environments.
Of other note, International Supplies does also distribute a gun lube (as well as a cleaner and conditioner), ZMax, which has it’s own following. Lubes are such a Holy War that we generally try and stay away from reviewing them, and personally I’m not in a place where I can autoclave one of my guns clean to try it out—do any of you readers have experience with it that want to weigh in?
