Lucid Optics has released some new products for 2016. The Lucid SC9 spotting scope and the L7 1-6x rifle scope join their existing catalog. I got to handle both of these optics this year at SHOT.
Lucid SC9 Compact Spotting Scope
The SC9 is a compact spotting scope that goes from 9 to 27 power. It has a 56mm objective lens and an ocular lens that is 20mm. The spotting scope weighs a paltry 21 ounces and is 8.25 inches long. (For reference an Aimpoint PRO weighs 11.6 ounces.) The spotting scope has a lifetime warranty, is IPX8 waterproof, nitrogen purged and water proof. This is a neat little optic. If you are hunting antelope on the prairie you might want a little bit more magnification, but for spotting in the mountain this little scope will work very well. It has an MSRP of $499.
Lucid L7 1-6x Rifle Scope
The Lucid L7 is a 1-6x, second focal plane, variable optic that features Lucid’s etched P7 reticle. The P7 reticle has a 1/4 MOA center red dot with a 4 MOA outer ring. The reticle has dots and hash marks that are spaced in 8 MOA sub tensions. The Lucid L7 scope body itself is 6063 aluminum and has a 30mm main tube. The scope weighs 20.4 ounces, waterproof, nitrogen purged and is in matte black. Nice little optic. This scope would be perfect for an Ar-15 or even a dangerous game style hunting rifle. The MSRP is $449.
