Cobalt Kinetics is becoming known for their high end sci-fi looking rifles with a number of features that can significantly improve the speed of your operation, from automatic magazine and bolt drops, to an overload usage of the forward assist to operate as a bolt drop. Their distinctive look and operation comes at a premium, though.
Well, they have taken that engineering and made a lower end model more suited for law enforcement and general use, that they are simple calling “BLACK”. It still utilizes their 7075-T6 billet aluminum lower and upper, but does not have their new buffer assembly and muzzle device. The bolt carrier group is their standard nickel boron version.
They have brought the price down considerably by using off the shelf components like the Archangel Collapsible Stock, the 12.5” Odinworks free floating hand guard, a Hogue grip (though that is likely going to change), and a KE Arms Enhanced trigger. The muzzle device is a standard A2 Flash Hider, and the gas block is non-adjustable. The barrel remains a Faxon 16 inch mid length gas.
The initial version with ship with the “double-d” feature found on the BAMF and Edge models, and will have the ambidextrous extended magazine release and charging handle and is expected to be in the sub $2k range.
