BRS99 Radom SBR/Pistol! (SHOT Show 2016)

At the Radom booth at SHOT 2016, we got a glimpse at a wonderful offering that will soon be imported to the United States in pistol form. This neat little gun fires 9mm from a closed bolt, and features an Uzi-style quick change barrel, collapsible stock, great sights, and varying magazine capacities.

Shot the full-auto military version in Poland last year. Called the PM85 Glauberyt if I remember correctly. It had quite a lot of movement in the bolt compared to say the MP5. Not sure I´d compare the two. Maybe an UZI is a better comparison.

    • The Uzi might be more comparable the the RAK63. The BRS and its select fire brothers are closed bolt.
Still though, I see what you are saying.

I think that comparison BRS99 and uzi is perfect. Rak 63 is more like giant automatic pistol. In Czech Republic, you can buy BRS 99 for 1250$, RAK will cost you 230$. But I thing more people will buy UZI for 450$, so they can save money on ammo (9×19 is cheapest here). (Sorry for bad english)

UZI could be upgradet to firing from close bolt. (For 250$)

          • I think a closed bolt uzi and the BRS99 are comparable. It would be awesome if we could put them both to the test in the future!

Thanks for the input; also, your English is perfectly understandable. Most readers on TFB like hearing gun perspectives from outside the US, so don’t be afraid to chime in!

I want a full auto RAK so bad 🙁

        • iksnilol

To be honest, RAK seems more interesting than BRS to me.

Roller delayed blowback vs direct blowback can make for a big difference in the feel of the action cycling.

    Looking forward to it

    Oh, that is cool.

New guns are always great, but that pistol grip looks about as terrible as if somebody just put a wooden 2×4 in it’s place.

    • BearSlayer338

Probably still more comfortable than a glock.

    • Rusty S.

      It was actually quite comfortable.

Pfft… 2016… Who needs bolt hold open anyhow!?

    • God damn dude, you are queen of the negative nancys.

    • De Facto

Means less opportunity for crud to get into the chamber.

Are you confusing a closed bolt action with not having a last round bolt hold open? I can assure you, my BRS99 has a nice big external bolt release and last round hold open.

  • Jeremy

Looks more like a baby of of the Uzi and an Veresk SR-2

  • VolkCNC

We’ve had the BRS99 in Canada for a number of years, I’ve personally had one for around 6 months. Great little sub gun, very accurate. The comparison to the Uzi is valid as Uziel Gal helped in the design of the PM68. Hopefully they will have a good presence in the US so we can start getting magazines up here. They are incredibly hard to find.

Sounded like someone behind the camera was blowing a raspberry at the end.

You’re kidding right? As a pistol, it’s less than useless relative to a regular pistol (glorified tec-9), and as an SBR carbine, it’s OK, but certainly way short of say, a 9mm AR15.
