EraThr3/AXTS Titanium Ported AR Charging Handle

Erathree

EraThr3 collaborated with AXTS to make the Raptor charging handle out of titanium and machine ports into it. The porting is to help redirect gas blowback when running suppressed.

-Limited Run of 100 Pieces-
Eric Anderson and crew continue to push the limits of an iconic weapon, and the community that surrounds it.  In a world of overthought everything, it’s great to introduce something that’s truly original, cool, and functional as well.
With a simple swap of the charging handle, the rifle takes on a different attitude. It didn’t take months of testing in a lab, or a bunch of experts to articulate the differences. Most evident when running a suppressor, the gasses are redirected forward, and can be seen rolling out of the weapon, away from the shooter. Noticeably less burn in the eyes/nose, and a face clear of black shit.
Base design is related to the already popular Raptor™ ambidextrous charging handle. The Freedom Bone is truly revolutionary in design & function. From rapid palm “blading” or finger thumb charges of the weapon, the motion is fluid & fast from either strong or support side. Made from Pure Titanium goodness.
WEIGHT: 2.2oz.
COLOR: Silver
Replacement for standard AR-15 Mil-Spec Charging Handle
The only downside is that it costs $299! It is limited edition. Only 100 units were made and are numbered 1-100. You can get it from EraThr3’s website.

We may have officially jumped the 3 gun shark with this one: A charging handle that costs as much as a complete barreled upper.

  • thedonn007

Where exactly is the gas blowback redirected to?

    • Sianmink

For that price, it better be redirected to Mikey Bloomberg’s bedroom.

      • JK

I’d pay $300 for a charging handle that did that, and I’d probably get to the range a lot more often, too.

      • Joseph Smith

        ^ Best comment ever!!!!!

  • JumpIf NotZero

I don’t care how how the girl is, she can’t carry any company with its head this far up its own backside.

You want to see what kind of charging handle a 100% marketing driven company make? Yea, no one else did either.

    • RICH

…..AND IT’S QUITE OBVIOUS WHY SOME COMPANIES GO ‘BELLY UP’ ! !

  • DIR911911 .

limited run of 100 . . . because by at least customer 99 they’ll figure out its a waste

  • Joshua

Titanium latch vs aluminum latch groove. Yeah no, I like my uppers to last 100,000+ rounds.

    • DB

But they can be used as a beer bottle opener too!!

  • TheNotoriousIUD

    I dont get it.
So the gasses go where now? Not out the ejection port anymore?

    • Paladin

A suppressed AR blows gases out the charging handle slot into the shooters face. Normally this is solved with a “gas buster” charging handle which is built up around the slot to direct gas away from the face. Apparently this manages the same effect by using ports on the stem of the handle to direct the gas forward.

      • JK

Forward where? The first couple holes might push the gas through the tiny ports around the gas tube, the second row and back look to be mostly blocked by the ribs on the charging handle.

        • Paladin

I would imagine most of the gas would go out the ejection port as it cycled open. It wouldn’t be necessary to entirely redirect the flow, disrupting it should be enough to significantly reduce the blowback.

  • John

If it didn’t take months for experts to see a difference, then where is the regular aluminium version?

    • DB

      Aluminum foil hats!!

  • anon

    Game changing…

  • anon

Literally 40% of the articles on TFB today are about AR charging handles.

    • MR

      Vs. 1911s yesterday

      • Pancakes are tomorrow:-)

        • allannon

It’d better be recipes, because shooting at pancakes is crossing the line.

          • MR

Eggos, ya shoot’em when they pop out of the toaster.

        • Nashvone

          I prefer waffles.

  • Mark

    You had me until… $300.

    • JK

      Qualifies for free shipping! 😀

  • Cal S.

I bought this to go along with my ported upper, skeletonized lower, fluted barrel, ported handguard, and my lightweight, minimalist stock and buffer tube.

My AR now folds in half at the magwell, I cannot figure out why…

    • Vhyrus

      It’s a feature, not a bug.

    • RICH

      LMAO ! ! THANX….

  • El Duderino

    I like innovation…but c’mon…$300 charging handle?

  • Not a great choice either—

  • KK

    Rhymes with urethra.

  • Cymond

Sounds like an interesting concept, allowing gas to escape through the ports and out the ejection port, instead of flowing back and out the charging handle slot.
    But not for $300!
I can get a regular Rainier Avalanche and an AR Gas Vent for $120.
I have the discontinued Sinterfire charging handle and like it so far. I’d probably try a Mega Slidelock charging handle fit $20 less than the Avalanche

  • Kyle

I think visiting that guy’s website gave me an STD. Seriously that had to be the most brotacticool thing I have ever clicked through. They whole thing screamed of trying to hard to appeal to the CoD gun crowd.

    • Nashvone

I wasn’t thinking about checking out their website until I read your comment. Call it morbid curiosity but I went there. SHEEEESH!!! Judging by the prices, they’re proud of their stuff. $8,500 for a 1911? My favorite selling point of the damned thing is “Feed-ramp and barrel throat set to correct dimensions.” Ya Think? It’s a machine. If they aren’t it won’t run!

Seriously, thanks for pointing out another company for me to hate on!

  • North Polar

Anyone notice that the design will work like a broach inside of the upper? It’s not going to get pulled back perfectly straight every time, it’s harder than anodized aluminium, and pointy. Goodbye inside of the upper receiver.

  • LV-426

    WACK!!!

  • jerry young

I fail to see what good this would do, if you look where the charging handle sets there is no place for gas to go if directed in this manner unless you port the upper receiver, but if you’re into cool and don’t mind wasting your money it does fit that

  • uisconfruzed

$85 & I’d buy one from the gutter mouth.
$300, I’ll laugh and walk away.

  • RICH

    $300….. WHAT A SCAM…. ! ! IMO.

  • Budogunner

For less, I bought a side charging upper receiver for my .300 blk build. And that came with the bolt carrier assembly, too…

  • marathag

    ‘Limited Edition’

    Umm.

No. and that’s before you get to the price.

    What’s next..’Gotta collect them all’?

  • A guy named Joe

People have money and they guarantee no gas in face….
You can get the Gemtech setup at 225 or do a complete gas block setup.
