Adams Arms’ VooDoo Innovations Releases Glock Barrel

VooDoo Innovations, part of the Adams Arms’ family, has announced the release of their first Glock Barrel, a Glock 17 model ready for both Gen 3 and Gen 4 handguns. Released to an already crowded market, the VDI barrel sets itself apart by loading up with specifications and features.

The barrel itself “features a SAAMI spec 9mm Match chambering” along with “match grade” rifling to accept any 9mm bullet, including cast rounds. The barrel itself if LifeCoat finished (Melonite & PVD which we liked in a review of their 5.45 upper) and features a 1/2×28 threading for immediate suppressor usage. The barrel is machined from 416-R stainless and is set at “tighter fitment tolerances to increase accuracy potential without the need of gunsmith fit.”

Aside from the specs, the barrel features a novel chamber area with a few extra cuts to decrease the barrels weight and increase the aesthetic appeal. The cuts nicely match the upcoming Adams Arms Glock slides which were previewed at the NASGW (sorry, no photos!). The slides will feature matching machining cuts and the LifeCoat coating typical to VooDoo (like their SF-308 piston rifle)

At the time of this writing, the barrels are on sale for $199 off a listed retail price of $224.99. The barrel includes the VDI threaded protector which features wrench flats so it can be mounted for everyday carry, if needed.

They make some pretty decent barrels. I might have to give this a try after using one of their AR barrels.

“wrench flats so it can be mounted for everyday carry”

So the thread protector doesn’t fall off. You can torque it to the shoulder. It seems like a good idea, weather it actually works IDK.

  • G0rdon_Fr33man

So in plain english, it has traditional rifling and a better supported chamber..?

  • iksnilol

Pfft, you can buy two hipoints for that money.

    • Cal S.

In all fairness, it’s half the price I expected it to be…

  • john huscio

Still hard to get aftermarket barrels for the 30s

  • Christian Hedegaard-Schou

So. It has a SAAMI spec chamber or a Match chamber? Because it can only be one or the other.

    • G0rdon_Fr33man

Not sure what stock Glocks run, but brass do get the “Glock bulge”, so I assume that is not SAAMI spec?

      • Duhnmharu

GLock bulge comes on .40 cal pistols it has a unsuported chamber . All other calibers are supported

        • G0rdon_Fr33man

Both 9mm and 45 Glocks do get a bulge… I reload and I can easily feel the difference in resistance between Glock-brass and others…

the only reason I would ever buy a glock is that it has more available accessories to make it pretty

I have a custom 1911. fully tuned. My Glock in 45 shoots all ammo reliably. y 1911 not so much . Much as i love my 1911, Glock is not my carry gun
