Nikon Releases MONARCH 5 Riflescope Line

Nikon has announced the upcoming release of their MONARCH 5 (all CAPS theirs, not mine) line of riflescopes. The new Monarch line is set up around Nikon’s new “Advanced BDC” reticle which is designed for each correction of wind drift.

The scopes are targeted at the middle of the market and with the BDC reticle are ideal for hunters with known calibers and loads. The Monarch line includes Nikon’s fully multi-coated lenses which means there are multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds abound within the optic. The fully multi-coated lenses are from Nikon’s “ED” or extra-low dispersion glass. Per Nikon, “ED Glass lenses reduce chromatic aberration to provide images that have superior contrast.”

The Monarch 5 line includes multiple optics across a wide variety of magnifications levels. All optics feature 5x zoom as the “5” in Monarch 5 implies.

    1. 2-10×42
    2. 2-10×50
    3. 3-15×42
    4. 3-15×50
    5. 4-20×42
    6. 4-20×50
    7. 5-25×50
    8. 6-30×50

Each of the Monarch 5 optics include a model with Nikon’s new “Advanced BDC” reticle. The Advanced BDC reticles are all etched glass with “unique circles going down the vertical sight post”. Each open circle is flanked by a small cross hair indicating 10mph wind holds for the various distances, which allows the shooter to use “kentucky windage” quicker and with more accuracy.

The Monrach 5 line’s MSRP varies by magnification and reticle. The 2-10x starts around $550 and the range-topping 6-30×50 comes in just shy of $950.
