Sturm, Ruger & Co. updated its American Rifle line to now include Magnum calibers. The new American Rifle Magnum is available in both 7mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag. Both guns share similar configurations and specifications.

These new rifles have a cold hammer forged 24″ barrel with a matte stainless finish. The barrels are threaded (5/8″-24) for the quick addition of a sound suppressor or other muzzle device. The 7mm Rem Mag has a 1:9.5″ twist, while the 300 Win Mag uses a 1:10″ twist. Barrels are free floating.

As with the standard American Rifles, the new Magnums use a matte black synthetic stock. There is texturing on the gripping surfaces and Ruger adds a soft rubber pad to help with recoil.

Ruger includes the Marksman Adjustable trigger on these new models. Pull weight is adjustable between 3 and 5 pounds.

Ruger uses a detachable box magazine with these rifles. With both calibers, the magazines hold three rounds. No sights are included, but the receiver has a factory installed rail to make adding a scope relatively easy.

The suggested retail price on these guns is $699. For comparison, the All Weather American Rifle with the matte stainless barrel is $595.

Ruger is on a bit of a pre-SHOT Show roll with announcements of a GP100 in .22 LR and a new 10/22 Takedown with a target barrel.
