Ruger Adds an Inch

Ruger Gives you an extra inch

Sturm, Ruger & Co. announced they added an option for lovers of the SR22 pistol that gives them an extra inch of barrel length. The new 4.5″ barrel length SR22 pistol has a long-slide look that has a bit of a sci-fi vibe to it. A longer barrel and slide do add to the weight of the gun, though the additional 1.2 ounces (to a total of 18.7 ounces unloaded) is hardly a deal breaker for most people.

As with the other pistols in the line, this one is chambered for the .22 LR. Each magazine holds ten rounds. The new SR22 variant has a black polymer frame and a black anodized slide. The overall length of the gun is 7.4″ compared to the 6.4″ length of the original form factor pistol.

Three dot adjustable sights are standard on the longer gun. It is not California compliant. It is not know if Ruger has any plans to introduce a threaded barrel version of the gun as the company did with the original SR22. Additionally, the company has not stated if other slide colors will be introduced. Currently, Ruger offers the standard length SR22 with a silver colored slide. It is possible that Talo or another distributor will order some limited run SR22 pistols.

As might be anticipated, you have to pay more to enjoy the additional length. The 4.5″ barrel version of the pistol carries a suggested retail price of $439. The standard length pistol has an MSRP of $415.
