Cerakote Tungsten Desert Eagle

DE44TU Tungsten

Quick… name the coolest gun of the 70’s and the detective who carried it.  Dirty Harry and his S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum.  Hands down.  But what if Magnum Force was written in 2015?  What is the biggest, baddest handgun of modern lore?  Possibly the Desert Eagle .50AE – perhaps a tungsten colored Desert Eagle .50AE finished in Cerakote.

Magnum Research coated their legendary Desert Eagle in everything from stainless steel to animal prints.  But the addition of a Cerakote finish to the line brings a new level of functionality, durability and beauty.  The multi-coat ceramic finish is tinted to a very clean and equally attractive dark grey graphite which they call “Tungsten.”

Of course, the pistol carries with it the usual Desert Eagle accoutrements, including an accessory rail, anatomic grip and manageable trigger reach for a firearm of this size.

Perhaps the best part?  The new Cerakote Tungsten Desert Eagle is available in .50AE and, you guessed it, .44 Magnum.

Wait. What if Magnum Force was written today? I don’t know, the vigilante cops would have some new tactical handgun in 10mm or something.

    Also .44 Magnum > .50 Desert Eagle.

    • anon

then get a .44 deagle brand deagle

    • Anonymoose

.440 Cor-bon>>all other Desert Eagle chamberings.

      • G0rdon_Fr33man

Desert Eagle´s gas system deserve a bottlenecked cartridge!

      • 240gr @ 1800fps, that is impressive.

  • mosinman

i think this looks way better than the chrome/gold finishes

  • iksnilol

Eh, I’d go for the chrome finish.

  • SP mclaughlin

Silencerco better make an integral suppressor for the DE.

    • Mr. FN

I don’t think that would even be that hard, considering the relative ease the barrel comes off the Deagle. New barrel with integral silencer, some heavy .44, man that would be fun.

      • Brett

        Some like this than…

        • G0rdon_Fr33man

Those are props from the Boondocks Saints sequel I believe. I´d take a 10 inch barrel and work it out from there.

          • Anonymoose

            Why not the 14″? 😀

          • G0rdon_Fr33man

Dude… Been looking high and low for that 14 inch. I know they can be found in the US, but they are rare as a unicorns horn here in Norway. :-/

          • Anonymoose

I’m not even sure they would fit on a modern MkXIX deagle anyway, or if they ever made the .50AE in 14″. :

          • Secundius

            @ Anonymoose.

The “Longest Production Barrel” ever produce for the .50AE (.500/12.7×32.6) Mk. XIX, was 374.6mm or (~14.748-inches/29.496-caliber)

          • Brett

Yep, All Saints Day. I grabbed it as a quick, visual reference. I was going with more integral something in the vain of the maxim 9 and a Russian pistol. There is video of a guy who chopped and thread his .44 barrel and put a .45 sub gun can on it.

          • G0rdon_Fr33man

Hmm… Except the D.E vents gas underneath… Not sure the D.E is the ideal gun, but hey, we´re all in this for the sh!ts´n giggles right?

  • Lance

Love it looks awesome, Wish they still make .41 Mag pistols though.

    • Mark

      The Glock 20.

      • Anonymoose

        Almost, but not quite…

    • Anonymoose

Smith still makes the Model 57 under their “Classics.” You’re SOL if you’re looking for one from anyone else besides maybe an FA custom single-action.

  • Ben

    He’d be carrying a S&W 500

    • Don Ward

      Loaded with .500 Light Specials…

      • Nashvone

Because a one handed follow up shot with a standard 500 load would be hysterical?

        • Don Ward

Nah, nah. It’s a Magnum Force movie reference.

    • Anonymoose

No, he would have a pair of these gigantic Remington 1858s, with cartridge conversions to 30x173mm, and the silver rattlesnake grips.

      • Dan

        What the hell?

      • Secundius

        @ Anonymoose.

Would NEVER have worked anyway. Original Gun have a 28mm Diameter Bore and Recoil Force was 7,951ft/lbs. A GAU-8 30x173mm is 10,000ft/lbs. the gun would have Exploded, killing anyone around it…

        • Anonymoose

Aww, man…way to crush my hopes. :C

    • Giolli Joker

  • Don Ward

If there’s two things that I’ve taken away from watching all five movies in the Dirty Harry franchise far too many times, it’s this.
Inspector Callahan is kind of a Fudd.
And the San Francisco PD must have one helluva Police Union Guild.

  • Edeco

It’s relatively tasteful. But for a factory grey finish I’m thinking, hey, render forth some nitriding, parkerizing or the like

  • marathag

Coolest ’70s pistol was the Wildey , the Automag turned to 11. But Bronson wasn’t a detective.

  • Cymond

Actually, this looks pretty good. I’m surprised they didn’t go with Burnt Bronze, or has that fallen out of fashion now? I always thought BB looked like dog doo.

  • Brett

    Just saying

    • WFDT

That joke isn’t as funny as it once was.

      • Secundius

        @ WFDT.

Actually not All That Absurd. In January 2014, the SFA (Syrian Free Army) developed a 23x115mmR “The Achilles Gun”, World’s Largest Sniper Rifle. More of a Psychological Weapon, than a Actual Weapon. NOT EVEN ACCURATE, You Scared Someone To Death, than Actually Killing Them Outright…

  • Sulaco

Had a .44 Maggie DE in the 80’s. Could hit the 100 yard gong from a bench rest nearly every time. Recoil was a slow ride/push upwards.

  • phauxtoe

with the semi auto it totally removes the Most Famous Handgun Question that Dirty Harry asks the Bad Guy! “…I know what you’re thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kinda lost track myself…”

so DH needs to go with a Smith 500! (the Most Powerful handgun in the WOrld!)

  • Secundius

If the Pistol were made of Tungsten, the weight would exceed 12-pounds…
